Flash modes with "M" lenses

Playng around with the included flash of my k-x i noticed that with "M" lenses i can't use rear curtain sync.
Did i miss something or it's really impossible to use it with the bult-in flash?
If i buy an external flash unit will i be able to use it?

M-lenses have limited flash compatibility. You cannot use P-TTL for instance, only the manual flash or a flash set at Auto-mode.

Trailing curtain sinc is only possible if the shutter speed is 1/90s and slower (according to the K20 manual - I don't know what camera you use). As the sync speed in most modes is locked at 1/180s with M-lenses, you cannot have the 2nd curtain sync.

Thanks for the answer Ben
If i understand corectly 2nd curtain it's impossible unless you use P-TTL and there isn't a workaround to it (like an external flash in manual setting).

No, 2nd curtain is also possible with manual or Auto-flash modes. The limiting factor is the M-lens (or any more modern lens used with manual aperture.)
