Photo of the Week #118 June 13 - June 27
Posted By: Clou, 06-20-2010, 12:08 AM

Welcome to 118th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week! This edition covers photos taken between June 13 and June 27, 2010.

Thanks to bbluesman for hosting last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your Pentax cameras. It gives us all a chance to virtually visit with one another, to get a glimpse of what it's like where others live and where they've been, and to extend the same invitation to others to share what we've been seeing.

The best pictures can only be taken with the camera you are carrying with you, so have you camera with you and keep always an eye on the things which are and happen around you.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Let's keep it to under 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday 13 June 2010 to Sunday 27 June 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes. Old shots with a new look from post-processing during the open time period are also welcome.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Ready? Great! Shoot and post!

A few pictures to start with.

The following were taken on a photowalk in the German Museum, a museum displaying technical history.

Lifesaver (airbag detail)

Thrust (rocket motors of an old rocket sled)

Plane detail (I let you figure out what it is )

Rocker arm

Instruments and fuses of an old submarine

I am looking forward to the next entries!

Thanks for hosting Clou. Some absolutely stunning shots to start the week. I broke down and bought a new lens, my first in almost a year and my very first prime, the DA 35mm/2.8 macro ltd. I took it for a walk in the park yesterday evening and so far it is everything I had hoped it would be.
Obligatory floral close up:

A landscape, illustrating the effects of a week of rain. I love the sharpness given the challenge of this much leafy foliage.

A little drama:

The birder in me couldn't let a loon get by without an attempt to capture it, so I did have to pull out my 55-300.

Again with my Tamron 70-200mm 2.8
I think I'm starting to like shooting small subjects. Could be time for a Macro lens soon.

I went to a reenactment of the Battle of Monmouth. It was very interesting talking with some of the reenactors and their dedication to their hobby.

A impressive start:

Nomad: Love the lightning - I did not manage to get a good shot of it yet.

robjmitchell: Getting up early definitely pays. Love the light, especially on the third photo.

jmschrei: I can feel the fresh wind after the rain - something I hope to find here after several weeks of bad weather.

bbluesman: Seeing your photos makes me feel like being there.

casil403: A drop can contain an entire universe, thanks for showing it.

Jimbow007: I am not that lucky with butterflies - love the light shining through the wings.

Oldschool: The enthusiasm of the reenactors is well visible in the photos.

legacyb4: Love the series - from the moment where everybody wants to go to the race and things happening outside the race.

Now I am curious on what comes next

I took my new lens downtown yesterday:

A slice of a downtown park that looks like it could be someplace wilder:

We have been having lots of rain here, so its not been the best for getting out and getting shots.
So here is a shot, I spent some of my rainy day taking and PPing.

I havnt been around for quite some while, but I'll try get time to catch up ^^

Wonderful start, Cluo. Great captures.. Can't do else then love old mechanic technique.

Great ones Nomad! I really love the 2nd from the bottom, such sharpness, it could fit as a desktop wallpaper or a big poster

Nice to see you again Tamia, the first one is a bit abstract. You can really get lost in it!

I'll start of with some beautiful friends of mine from the last week:
