Photo of the Week #123, July 18 - August 1, 2010
Posted By: pop4, 07-25-2010, 05:14 PM

Welcome to the 123rd edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week! This edition covers photos taken between July 25 and August 1, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

Thanks to VaughnA for hosting last week and thanks for choosing me as the host. It's my first time as host so let me know if something isn't right.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your Pentax cameras. It gives us all a chance to virtually visit with one another, to get a glimpse of what it's like where others live and where they've been, and to extend the same invitation to others to share what we've been seeing.

The best pictures can only be taken with the camera you are carrying with you, so have your camera with you and keep always an eye on the things which are and happen around you.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Let's keep it to under 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday 18 July 2010 to Sunday 1 August 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes. Old shots with a new look from post-processing during the open time period are also welcome.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Ready? Great! Shoot and post!

Here's a couple of shots taken while I was on a walk with the K20D and DA 55-300mm.

Another excellent week. I'm always impressed at the quality from a fairly tight little group. Seems to get better each week.

This group of 3 is from my take on the Scott Kelby photo walk. We did ours in Charlottetown at 7 AM on Saturday. After that ended, I had a wedding at noon and got home around 11PM. No trouble falling asleep!
Honestly I did more talking than shooting. Only took 38 photos in 2 hours. If you haven't done it, it's a great experience even just for the social aspects.

Ouch! That's gotta hurt!

Next, with Sigma 10-20mm
These ladies love to dress up in period costume and walk around while we shoot. The Big catholic church made a nice backdrop.

Finally a fun shot. The beer must have been free on Friday night!

With one that size, you need a friends help!

Two more. After I did the photo walk, I had to dash off and shoot a wedding. One particular image stood out.
This was shot with 2 remote strobes on either side of the pond and an AT400T on camera to give just enough light on them and save the sky.

And I really liked this as well.

I spent Saturday back out in my kayak. I came across a Heron in a rather difficult spot for me. He was in the clear mostly but there was no way I was easily going to get my boat closer so I stayed put and let the boat drift. He was feeding and more interested in eating than me and I was able to get over a hundred shots over about an hours time. The first is my first sighting and the other 2 are as he is having lunch. Shot with a Sigma 70-300 and cropped.

I have been so busy at work and home this past week I have only an odd selection of images to share so far:
Petunias in the shade

Abandoned raft

Reflection with hail damage

This, unfortunately, is the roof of my car with evidence of recent golfball sized hail.

We have had nothing but rain, rain and more rain for the past few days (even weeks). So not much doing with the camera.
Exasperated a little, I shot this yesterday today relieve the monotony.
