Photo of the Week #124, July 25 - August 8, 2010
Posted By: casil403, 08-01-2010, 03:27 AM

Welcome to the 124th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!
This edition covers photos taken between July 25 and August 8, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

Thanks to pop4 for hosting last week and thanks for choosing me as the host. It's my second time doing the hosting duties and I am looking forward to this one as much as I did the last one.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So slap that Pentax/Samsung around your neck or pop it in your pocket this week and show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! I look forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Let's keep it to under 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday July 25 to Sunday August 8 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes. Old shots with a new look from post-processing during the open time period are also welcome.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 117 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia, 104 Irishwhite, 105 Ramseybuckeye, 106 xjjohnno, 107 Bumbibop, 108 JeffJS, 109 Tpeace, 110 Nomad, 111 Photolady, 112 rparmar, 113 Peter Zack, 114 casil403, 115 Tamia 116 JeffJS, 117 bbluesman, 118 Clou, 119 ruggiex, 120 Jimbow007, 121 jmschrie, 122 VaughnA 123 pop4, 124 casil403

So many terrific and varied contributions this week!

I've been trying to get out with my camera every day, even if no farther than my backyard.
Daisies

Ripening saskatoons - I have never had berries ripen as slowly as they are this year.

Good to see all those great pics.
Fortunately I didn't work today being Saturday like I did last week so got in my weekly batch of pics at the market with a brand spanking new CZ Planar 50mm.

Again...you have been a busy bunch this week. I have been stupid busy with work so not alot of time in my life for shooting these days. Sorry to have been a bit remis in my hosting duties but I get here when I can.

Joe...Another great set. I've eyeballed that church in Bridgeland for a while to...love the spires on it. The African Daisies are a real pop of colour as well.
Tom...Sweet camera there! Love the cicada shell it is interesting. Are those the famous bugs that come up from the ground by the billions every so many years and make lots of noise? Looks like you are getting new pavement in the neighbourhood too.
Tpeace.... Beauty of a lighthouse image...very well done. I especially like the single ray of light you caught.
Mar...that is one cool looking spider. I have never seen anything like it before! What nifty colours and shape it is.
MountainCat...great family shots. And yes...Grandma's do make life beautiful. Mine definitely did.
Dave...lovely set of flowers caught there. False sunflowers(the last 2) are another fave of mine. LOL I told a coworker to shut up yesterday when he said he saw yellow leaves on a tree. Autumn is so close so I am enjoying the flowers while I can.
James...you managed to catch a real closeup of a Great blue Heron! I have yet to get anywhere near these guys as they are so shy of people and take off when they spot me. Funny. For some reason I see them and I think of "Jeeves the Butler."
Robin...lovely cat you have. and a great capture of him/her as well. That's a lot of cranes there too..what is being built?
Paleo pete.....Awesome Lizard closeup! And I see a tiny little bug on the corner of that nicely detailed flower. And welcome to POTW...glad you joined us!
xjjonno...Wow daffodills...Ours are long gone! And the last purple flowery-like things are really cool too!

I will finish up the next set of images when in the next thread but awesome work people and keep 'em coming!

Thanks Lisa for the comments this week and hosting.
With the GBH shot it helps I got my Bigma back from my Mom. This one walks down the river every night I go fishing right across from me. I want to try and get a in flight shot next.

All great photos. Dave, and Lisa, that spider is actually a beneficial one. I have been reading about it today and found out quite a bit of info on it. They only live one season, soon as she lays her eggs, she dies. The male impregnates her and then he dangles on a silky thread until his demise. She can have up to 256 babies. The beneficial part is she eats lots of bugs that are harmful to us. Also, she spins a new web every night. And since she is so beneficial, I've not told anyone where her web is, so they will not harm her. She eats mosquitoes.

Okay that's your new lesson for the day.

Here's a couple of photos I took this afternoon, in the backyard of course.

1. Bumble Bee on a Hibiscus:

2. My new vehicle. It's not new but it is to me. I've been wheel less since moving down here two years ago. I got this for $200. It's a Ford Ranger XLT. It needs work but not that much. A new clutch, $100 and water pump, $40. It has brand new tires on it and the brakes are also new.

Thanks for hosting Lisa. I'm getting these in under the wire. I've been tied up a lot these last few weeks and had little time to shoot. But a hike along the river usually gives me nice scenes.
