P52-3-3 Architecture: Graveyard
Posted By: Rense, 08-12-2010, 01:04 PM

The third week of this third year of Project 52 we will continue shooting
'Architecture', but well focus on the more sombre side of life:
graveyards. I've got the impression many photogs like shooting
graveyards, so I expect many entries this week!

Time Frame: pictures for week 3 are to be taken and posted between
20100814 and 20100822, so from August 14th - August 22nd, 2010.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed
. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc.
, for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active
to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/10506...-year-3-a.html

I hope we'll have a good year together!

Planned a trip to an old cemetery for the weekend, and despite the light drizzle, went anyway. So nice not to have to worry about letting a camera get a little wet!

Very old, moody, and the weather just added to the "gloomy" feel. In-camera B&W setting (filtered) with Lensbaby Composer

Regards,
D

I took a lot of photos in two of the city's oldest cemeteries but this was one of the few that I was happy with.

Sorry to read this

This entry is posted as an encouragement for all to participate, it does not count for the competition (wrong timeframe):

The Dead Among Us

EDIT: The more I thought about architecture, the less this photo applies. So this will just be for mood. I did get a chance to get to another cemetery today (8/20) so will get one up later tonight that's more in line with the theme.

There's no spectacular shots in this graveyard, as all it really is is a collection of weathered stones, some engraved, some just mearly whatever was on hand I guess. But that's what makes it so remarkable. It's an old family plot, I guess (couldn't find any info on it) that was just left as it stands today when they built this subdivision. The builders just left this lot empty with its remains. No fence, marker, or other identifying thing. I had a hard time deciding on which shot to enter, but I thought the wider angle, though not showing any real detail on the graves themselves, showed how commonplace death can be.

Call me morbid, but this cemetery is probably the place I frequent the most for photograph.

I like how you composed and exposed this picture. There is a lot of oomph to this capture. Very nicely done.
BTW, are the leaves on the trees in PA already falling? Does not bode well for Winter.

Sacred Heart

Here is my entry this week. Its tough to capture Architecture at a graveyard. I think this was a great theme choice Rense, challenging.

The photo was shot at f/4.5, shutter at 1/800, 41.0mm

Enjoy

Corey
