Photo of the Week #127, August 15 - August 29, 2010
Posted By: stevebrot, 08-22-2010, 05:17 PM

Welcome to the 127th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!
This edition covers photos taken between August 15th and August 29nd, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

Thanks to woof for hosting last week and thanks for choosing me as the host.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! I look forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to under 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday August 15 to Sunday August 29 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes. Old shots with a new look from post-processing during the open time period are also welcome.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 117 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia, 104 Irishwhite, 105 Ramseybuckeye, 106 xjjohnno, 107 Bumbibop, 108 JeffJS, 109 Tpeace, 110 Nomad, 111 Photolady, 112 rparmar, 113 Peter Zack, 114 casil403, 115 Tamia 116 JeffJS, 117 bbluesman, 118 Clou, 119 ruggiex, 120 Jimbow007, 121 jmschrie, 122 VaughnA 123 pop4, 124 casil403, 125 woof, 126 twitch

These late summer flowers in my backyard are some of my favorites. Thank you IS050 for use of the SP 35-80...excellent lens.

Wow, there are a lot of great shots coming in. Sorry about your Sigma, Reeftool. I once dropped a borrowed Ricoh and a 50mm lens, and it made a sickening crunch when it hit the concrete floor. Amazingly, it continued to function properly.

Here's one which I shot when looking for photos for the P52: Streetview challenge:

Thanks for the comments. My lens, while not quite operating right is still getting me some some nice shots. Here are some more.

Steve - again thanks for hosting nice shot of the Asters - always impressed by someone knowing what they are shooting. Me I shoot the yellow one and the red one , etc,..

eccs19 - nice flowers - white and yellow are tough exposures you did well.

Photolady - nice series love the clouds and buttefly but by far that horse closup is priceless !!

rparmar - nice sikly motion on the falls sure whish I had some falls close by to give that a go,

Clou - great panoramic ! Love the cascading mountains.

tpeace - excellent series you are always comming up with creative ideas.

jimschrei - It's flower season and these are good nice captures.

Mark - Intersting series I like #1 the best.

Tamai - that is a mixed bag but the spider makes that series excellent shot.

eccs19 - wow that is a close up that Bee is really in there doing his 'beeness

rparmar - love mountain landscapes those are good ones. Nice call on BW

jackassp - Indeed Bird on a wire ! Right place right time. I wonder if they affect reception ?

reeftool - sorry to hear about the sigma - been there done that paid for the replacement. Indeed anything under that Heron would be tagged in a bad way.

Steve - thanks for the comments. It's been a while since I 'Fisheyed' I do like that lens. Just have to careful if feet and elbows ha!

Mark - nice slice of life - I really like the last one well framed.

Stratman - congrats on the new toy looks good so far !

eccs19 - those are quick little buggers good detail for such a heavy crop. Like the mood of the second one.

casil403 - nice angels

rparmar - nice windows see no evil, speak no evil ... ha ! Interesting shot of the pedal would have never thought to do that.

Tamia - Prtetty typical urban street shot could be anywhere USA I think BW was a good choice.

Oldschool - very festive fresh bread ... ummmmm is there anything better ?

reeftool - indeed there is life left in the lens nice series .

Mark -- I really like the "Bulb Fingers". Is that some sort of commercial sign?

Steve S. -- The golf sign is pretty cool. I like signs that tell people where to go.

@eccs19 -- The fog picture is very special. I really like the subdued colors. Nice capture!

Lisa -- Good work on the train trestle. I was looking a similar structure a couple of days ago and thinking of a similar picture!

Robin -- Three windows, "almost" the same...the subtle differences make all the difference!

Tamia -- Looks like instant winter in the north country. We could use a little of the wet stuff around here. I don't think we have had rain since early July, despite our regions reputation for dampness.

@Oldschool -- The one with the flagellant in costume is really interesting and a little disturbing. Great colors too.

@reeftool -- You had quite the thing going with that heron. Still no shots from directly underneath

Dave -- Great sequence with super colors! The first three really stand out in my mind.

@SpecialK -- Car shows are really fun. Nice shot of the '29 Model A.

Mark -- "Isolation" is very well-captioned. Good capture.

@jezza323 -- I always really enjoy the "little planet" effect when it is done well and yours is done well!

Great work all and still two more days to go!

Yes-those are pulse flashing type signs at Betel Nut stands throughout Taiwan.

Thanks for not isolating me...

Got a few more. Some I took last saturday when I got the horse portrait (loaded to PPG tonight), and some I took around the yard yesterday and today.
First the Grasshopper:

The Lizard and the Frog:

A bit out of focus, but I thought I'd share him anyway. I was on my belly with my 18-55mm and closeup lenses for this shot:

I am sure this is another Vanusta orb weaver, but having shed it's skin, I am not sure how the colors came about:

A toadstool of many growing in front yard this afternoon. We've had some nice rains lately.

And thanks to all those who liked my horse portrait.
