Photo of the Week #131 September 12th - September 26th
Posted By: photolady95, 09-19-2010, 01:54 PM

Welcome to the 131st edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

This edition covers photos taken between September 12th and September 26th, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

A special welcome to all new members: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to under 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday September 12th to Sunday September 26th 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia, 104 Irishwhite, 105 Ramseybuckeye, 106 xjjohnno, 107 Bumbibop, 108 JeffJS, 109 Tpeace, 110 Nomad, 111 Photolady, 112 rparmar, 113 Peter Zack, 114 casil403, 115 Tamia 116 JeffJS, 117 bbluesman, 118 Clou, 119 ruggiex, 120 Jimbow007, 121 jmschrie, 122 VaughnA 123 pop4, 124 casil403, 125 woof, 126 twitch, 127 stevebrot, 128 ohce, 129 jmschrei, 130 photolady, 131 photolady

Joe, I like that forest shot, looks familiar northern forest to me
Photolady, nice shell collection!
Jeff, Nice shots of that tiny little berry, love the robins too!
Robin, I have that appeal to all old and rusty iron!
Casil, nice Desoto brand mark, I like the drops on the surface!
Steve, I like that film shot, beautifully DOFfy!
Mark, M28 looks like a great lens, at least in your hands, good shots!
Steve, I like the leafs a lot, nice against the pure white! Askew looks so delicate!

Here are few of mine:

Some nice shots once again. Thanks Photolady for hosting.

Over the weekend we had a slo-pitch "Game of the Ages" - the cutoff age was <35 and >=35. The young'ens ranged from 18 - 23 and us old folks ranged from 35- 58.

A few of us have our kids playing (I have 2) and after we had a BBQ and 'presentation'. This had been in the planing for weeks.

There was some good trash talk over the weeks beforehand as to the results, it was not even close - I 'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The weather did not quite co-operate but we came preapred. The rain held out unilt about the 6th inning.

The old-fellas were prepared. Portable firepit, sleeping bags, tarps and a 100 cup rental from Tim Hortons' along a few bottles of Baileys

Final Score was 29-11 for us 'old timers' haha we even bought medals and a Trophy for what will be I am sure an anual event.

These guys have at least a year to live this down haha !

All ribbing aside we had some BBQ hanmburgers and hotdogs , despite the rain and cold we had fun.

We feed the young ones first , it was the least we could do.

Another Robin

This one suffered from a little bit of camera shake but otherwise was a half decent shot. I did what I could to fix it..

My first ever attempt at lightning. Not sure of the ideal setting for doing this, but for a first go, I'm happy.

Nice shot
The settings for night lightning are to set the shutter speed to as long as possible (depends on ambient light) and the choose a aperture iso combo that doesn't over expose the lightning. Typically iso100/2.8 for distant lightning and getting smaller as the lightning gets closer. if you only have slower lenses then you can bump up the iso to 200.
If you get rain wrapped lightning rather than clear air then there is nothing to save you photos from being blown out

Nice shots All..
Love the Dragon BBluesMan excellent sharpness and color. Which Lens?
Robin, Excellent as usual, I wish I had your eye for finding great shots in simple objects.
Eccs, nice job with the lightning, we haven't had a nighttime storm all year.
And everyone else is rolling along as well. We've got a talented bunch here.
