Posted By: jshurak, 09-17-2007, 05:17 AM

Sorry for the late post guys. Yesterday was a busy day.

2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 6 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax. (added by Jonas for Challenge #23: Just use any camera you want. I'm not discriminating anyone as long as the is an active member here)

The competition is open from midnight today (Monday) September 17th until midnight Saturday September(!) 22th. I will judge on Sunday the 23th and post results during that day.

Color contrast

I am lover of "fall" and the mountains as many of my pics that I post reflect..

This one is my representation of contrast. I really like the way it turned out with the lighter "dead" log in front and the bright yellow of the Aspen with the background of the mountain.

The mountain holds is one little misterious contrast .. can anyone see the beaver outline in the mountain?? It is a well known icon for Longs Peak (a colorado 14'ner) found in Estes Park, Colorado.

Enjoy!!!

Perhaps taking 'contrast' too literally, but here's my youngest girl enjoying a Nylabone in some contrasting light...

Colour Contest Submission

Thought I would submit this one as it portrays some interesting contrasts. You can feel darkness approaching with the clouds (moving from right to left) consuming the clear sky and creatilng similar contrasts on the water.

The occupants of the small boat are heading home to safe harbour before darkness falls.

The photograph was taken at sunset on the Comox Spit on Vancouver Island. My camera is a K10D and I was using my Pentax DA F4 16-45mm lens. Settings were ISO 100, Shutter speed 1/400 at F- 4. The lens was wide open at 16mm.

Here's my entry for 'Contrast'...

I was out walking my dog Schmikey with camera in tow - 'playing' with one of my manual focus lens - pentax-A 50mm f1.7 - when I saw this interesting walkway. My eye was drawn to the various colors, shapes and wet/dry elements.
There are a number of contrasts - stone vs metal, straight line vs curve, dry vs wet, grays vs rust and a bit of grass vs stone/metal...

The contrast of an old, big, square, plain, almost monotone building with a new, small, streamlined, fancy, brightly coloured motorbike. Well it took my fancy anyway...

Fly By

Open house at the local air force base with several aircrafts doing fly bys. The sun was getting pretty low and it was impossible to get any shots with detail of the planes. Plan B, aim for the only two areas in the sky with clouds (storm blowing in) and wait for a plane or two to fly through.

DS, DA50-200, ISO 800, f32, 1/350 sec, monopod

A different type of contrast

There are some really nice shots everyone, although I have to keep reviewing davekimbers entry . Here's my interpretation of 'contrast'

This is from this summer while on vacation. We had to pass this huge construction site usually twice a day on a very busy 2 lane highway (one lane each way) though the Rocky Mountains. It was really hit and miss as to if the delay was a few minutes or closer to 40.

Anyway while the picture is not technically perfect , the contrast is the blured background indicating speed , added to her experssion and of course the instructions on her sign.
