P52-3-15 Colour: Red
Posted By: Rense, 11-05-2010, 01:51 AM

Okay, keep your breath for a long, long series of P52-weeks around the theme
colour (or for our American friends: color). Six weeks long, we want to ex-
plore what colour does in our photos, and this week we'll shoot Red.

I don't think I have to explain the colour, or what you can do with it, do I? So,
let's go out shooting!!!

Just some backgrounds and some ideas:
Well....this isn't necessary, is it?

Time Frame: pictures for week 15 are to be taken and posted between
20101106 and 20101114, so from November 6th - November 14th, 2010.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed
. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc.
, for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active
to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/10506...-year-3-a.html

Have fun shooting!

Product placement

So I am thinking...red... and I notice my camera strap. I took a number of shots, even trying a red background (yuck). The tripod was a last minute addition in part for the shiny red Manfrotto logo. It does end up looking like selective desaturation which it is not but I like the effect.

Red enough?
Used the Takumar 135 mm and my K-mount extension tubes for shooting these Cotoneaster berries.
In this way I could use it for my Sin-project as well

just gonna throw in my observations...i dig it. would probably like it even more sans manfrotto logo and cropped so that the strap splits the frame. just my 2 cents!

Every time i see that logo i miss seeing it in my camera bag.

Edit: nevermind the cropping idea, the more i look at it the more i like the framing as is.

Thanks! Ha well LBA does not care what age you are, thats for sure

I am quite pleased with my gear list, and everything on it other than the sigma and the 85mm was a deal of some sort.

K 50mm F/1.2 for $222, F 135mm F/2.8 for $350, DA 55-300mm for $230, etc. etc.

Thanks for the feedback Dan. I do like the shot the way it is, this is as shot, uncropped. It is probably the last shot I took. But I decided to take one of my other images from the same shoot and crop it to create a new avatar!

So, is the K-5 tugging at you to come home?

I've always got my eye on Pentax. The K-5 looks super sweet, but I wouldn't be gaining much if anything over the 7D except perhaps high ISO performance. If and when Pentax goes FF...that's when I'll take a really hard look at 'coming home' as you put it.
