POTW #138 October 31 to November 14
Thanks to Xjjohnno for hosting last week's POTW and inviting me to host this week.
Last week I was one of the new participants and Xjjohnno thought it would be nice if I would host the next edition. Thank you so much
Welcome to the 138th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

This edition covers photos taken between October 31 to November 14 2010.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another! So show us your week and have fun.

Same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Under 6 images per post so the thread doesn't get too big.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday 31 October to Sunday 14 November 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink (but it doesn't seem to work?) to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's. 1 Peter Zack, 2 Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan, 10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295, 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon, 58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey, 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense, 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno, 89 Bramela, 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot, 93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia, 104 Irishwhite, 105 Ramseybuckeye, 106 xjjohnno, 107 Bumbibop, 108 JeffJS, 109 Tpeace, 110 Nomad, 111 Photolady, 112 rparmar, 113 Peter Zack, 114 casil403, 115 Tamia, 116 JeffJS, 117 bbluesman, 118 Clou, 119 ruggiex, 120 Jimbow007, 121 jmschrie, 122 VaughnA, 123 pop4, 124 casil403, 125 woof, 126 twitch, 127 stevebrot, 128 ohce, 129 jmschrei, 130 photolady, 131 photolady, 132 bbluesman, 133 rparmar, 134 reeftool, 135 reeftool, 136 Oldschool, 137 xjjohnno 138 KarenH

Aha! For a moment I thought you had an attack of Kooritis
But since I hardly know anyone here (being so new) it's nice to know who's who.

Unfortunately not. It is a nice place for hiking, that's what we did

That is a beautiful scene. I imagine that without all that rain you would not have such lush beauty in November!

You asked for it... Here is what he was looking at..

In keeping it respectful and in good taste, I won't post the photo showing him expressing his opinion of the entire encounter (though it is on my flickr)..

One from a couple nights ago showing off that ISO 5000

Getting a photo of him looking at the camera is a pretty fruitless pursuit most times. No way would he allow me to get my 'exercise' like your Border (?) does.

Thank you for your comments (both here and at flickr).

Pop4, that's a great shot, did you take that for the monthly competition?

LOL Jeff, about the look he's giving you in that shot.
Squirrels have to be checked all the time, although here they are more into lizards.
What breed is he? Maybe if he's ball or cookie minded you can hold a treat just above the camera, he looks at it and ..... click.
And I'm a bit green with envy about that low noise on ISO 5000.

These don't fit the time frame of the POTW but there Are ways of getting his attention..

Otherwise, he doesn't want much to do with the camera

Sometimes, I swear, he's laughing at my efforts to catch him in the viewfinder...

Typically, he'll run and hide..

I always thought he was some sort of black Labrador but he is quite small compared to most I've seen (60 pounds) and the least curious I've ever seen in any hunting dog. Of course, he's never been trained for it so that may have something to do with it. Mostly, he's this black lump in the middle of the livingroom carpet.

Thanks for stepping into the host role this week Karen!
Here are some of my recent shots. We had almost no summer to speak of here (cold and wet) but we have enjoyed a long warm autumn with many days almost summerlike apart from the low sun and lack of leaves.

I spent a long time photographing rocks and driftwood along the shore of the reservoir trying to catch the texture in the low autumn light:

All these were taken with a Sigma 28-105 I recently acquired

This is just across the street, they have lowered the street, but haven't seemed to plan for the transition to the sidewalks!

This blue heron lives across the road from a refinery:

We were in Vegas last week. We always stay at Bally's because of the central location and other reasons. Here are few shots I did mange with the K20D of what was home for a week.
