POTW #138 October 31 to November 14
Thanks to Xjjohnno for hosting last week's POTW and inviting me to host this week.
Last week I was one of the new participants and Xjjohnno thought it would be nice if I would host the next edition. Thank you so much
Welcome to the 138th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

This edition covers photos taken between October 31 to November 14 2010.

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another! So show us your week and have fun.

Same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Under 6 images per post so the thread doesn't get too big.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday 31 October to Sunday 14 November 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink (but it doesn't seem to work?) to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's. 1 Peter Zack, 2 Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan, 10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295, 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon, 58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey, 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense, 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno, 89 Bramela, 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot, 93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia, 104 Irishwhite, 105 Ramseybuckeye, 106 xjjohnno, 107 Bumbibop, 108 JeffJS, 109 Tpeace, 110 Nomad, 111 Photolady, 112 rparmar, 113 Peter Zack, 114 casil403, 115 Tamia, 116 JeffJS, 117 bbluesman, 118 Clou, 119 ruggiex, 120 Jimbow007, 121 jmschrie, 122 VaughnA, 123 pop4, 124 casil403, 125 woof, 126 twitch, 127 stevebrot, 128 ohce, 129 jmschrei, 130 photolady, 131 photolady, 132 bbluesman, 133 rparmar, 134 reeftool, 135 reeftool, 136 Oldschool, 137 xjjohnno 138 KarenH

LOL!
For some reason 50 mm lenses pile up fast )
We've only got 3, M 50 mm f/2, f/1.7 and a FA 50 mm f/1.4.
And the Helios 44-2 58 mm f/2, which is a great lens btw, only I've got a fake adapter for it and since I couldn't get it loose from the K-7 a couple of weeks ago, it hasn't been on since. And that's a shame and way OT

Nice ibis, Pete.

Thanks Karen, I've wanted to try and shoot an Ibis for a long time, this was my first chance. I've seen a dozen at another local spot several times recently, but 200-300 yards away, I have to use binoculars just to tell what they are...I just wish I had been able to get some really clear pictures, for some reason my eyesight was just a bit off all day and nothing came out really as clear as I usually get.

Yeah 50mmm lenses pile up. I got one with each of my 35mm cameras. KX, K1000, ME, ME Super, A3000 - so I now have 5 or 6 usable 50's ranging from the A series 50 I normally shoot to a couple of 1.4 M series, a 1.7 M and two f2 M series that both do pretty well. The A series and 1.7 M series are the two that are always in my bag. Plus I have a 1.4 with a broken focus ring. No idea how that happened, I used it for several years. It still works but the focus ring is loose on one side. Think I may switch and tinker with one of the 1.4 ones today...

That last one is a beauty, James.
Is that from the same series as the one in your SIN album? Or am I mixing things up now?
The first too are great too, I like old, abandoned cars, but I think the b&w version would be stronger if it had been a bit brighter.

Thanks Karen, Yes the last one is another one from the SiN album series. I'll check the first one out in B&W and brighten it up. Its aways worth a try.

Well, it was a brilliant dance and this was the only way I could come close to representing it. Here is the other shot from my stream.

That looks wet, xjjohnno.

I'm sorry there isn't a new POTW thread yet, but it's hard to find someone who wants to host this.

Wow, so many excellent photos. Great work all and my thanks as well to Karen for hosting...Grazie tanto!
Looking at my shots I see I didn't shoot much this past week, but here's a couple I like.

I finally cleaned up that mess of metal scraps and this jumped out:

I was sure it was a Black Widow at the time, but that evening I looked around on the 'net and now I'm not sure. I didn't look for the typical markings on her abdomen and there is a spider here called False Black Widow with red marks on the dorsal.

And this one cross-posted in the P52 Red thread:

shot with the wonderful, wonderful, wonderful DA*50-135.

cheers,
Steven

This one is closed. Karen, thanks for this great week. I remember going PotW over 100 posts, but this one, reaching almost 150, is unprecedented I think!!!
