POTW #142 November 28 - December 12
Posted By: JeffJS, 12-05-2010, 07:22 AM

Welcome to the 142nd edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

Thanks to Tamia for hosting last week and for asking me this week.

This edition covers photos taken between November 28th to December 12th, 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note to everyone: Remember, you can post your shots from this week AND last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday November 28th to Sunday December 12th 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Jeff - no you (and Tamia) misunderstood my comments - if there were no rinks here - people would be killed ha !

I put this explanation in the previous POTW thread at the end .... this will clear it up

Thanks Tamia - the City and most all surrounding comunities do indeed have arena's indoor and outdoor. I would say the City (Edmonton) has 20 or more indoor arena's each with at least 1 rink some have 4. I live just outside the city and we have 2 indoor arena's and several outdoor. Hockey is so popular here there is never enough ice , with minor hockey, rec leagues , in fact a new 4 plex arena was just built and is booked solid I believe until late 2012

The guys in my picture were just creating a public outdoor skating area at the Government grounds.

Got you... Didn't see that in the other thread (though I'd seen the photo there).

bbluesman, If street photography were my thing, I would aspire to do as well as you. I think I should stick to trains and dogs though

Thank you all, even if I don't respond as much as everyone else, I really enjoy these POTW threads. Love seeing other parts of the world through fellow Pentaxian's eyes all collected in one space.

Nothing wrong with trains and dogs...Street seems like a fitting choice since the population density is high and I just need to go out my door to start seeing them...

Just for Fun

I want to try one like this during November (SiN) but never got the chance. So here is one for some giggles.

Jeff, thanks for hosting this week's POTW, looks like it's off to a roaring start with heaps of great pics.
Popped by the local Botanical Gardens and snapped some pics of succulents.

Jeff, greetings back to the hound. He looks adorable with those little sparkles in his eyes. The shot is maybe a bit to dark, but that's also something that happens when you post on Flickr
I reread my text with Pr1mo and the dune, but I didn't put it right I guess (oh, having 3 languages in your head messes things up sometimes). He didn't go around to corner, but fell of my trick, I couldn't have taken this shot if he hadn't.
And LOL about your fetch story.

Interesting shot, Robin, it almost looks like the statue is surfing.
I hadn't thought of that!

Robin - nice shot I like the fact the crow is OOF.
It's almost like the crow is a spirit, which is the one reason I like what is otherwise not such a great shot.

Robin, I'm liking the alley shot more than the statue shot. Always interesting to see what you come up with.
They are both just test shots, really, of the new lens. I hope to write it up on my blog soon. In the meantime...

Vaughn, each of those shots is great! Broccoli is a lovely composition and the PP on the others is distinctive.

Thanks Jeff, for hosting this weeks POTW. Great start already. Let hope it is also a bumper one.

WOW PFH, stunning photos. I like the colours. Is that ice in the yacht harbour?

Some contributions.

1. Gathering storm over Johannesburg skyline. Taken in the 3rd December
The next 3 taken on a visit to the local botanical gardens on the 4th.
2. Wingless dragonfly??
3. The Bishop
4. Life amidst the ruins

5. Taken this afternoon when I arrived home. Dramatic gathering of storm clouds. Grabbed the camera and shot off a few images. Except I forgot to change the ISO settings. It was still on ISO 800 which I had set for some images the day before. So not too happy with the result here.

Will post some more-if that is OK with Jeff

Cheerio
