WINNERS Weekly Challenge 152: Home
Posted By: reeftool, 12-05-2010, 11:53 AM

One of the things I really hate doing is trying to choose the best photos out of a group of very good and very diverse take on the theme. Honorable Mention to everyone who joined in this week. All are excellent shots that deserve a place on the wall.

The winneers:
THIRD PLACE: ramseybuckeye - The dog on the couch has "Home" written all over it. Great detail in the black dog which is difficult to get.
SECOND PLACE: Tamia - The home cooked meal is what most of us think of when "home" is thought of and this kitchen shot is great. I can almost smell the onions.
FIRST PLACE: Rense - This weeks winner! This is a beautiful and haunting image and I knew somehow at the beginning that a homeless person shot would turn up. Even the "homeless" have that special place and this image is one of the best I have ever seen in capturing the life of street people. Well done.

Wow, thank you! Did not expect this....Thanks for your kind words too...
Congrats to ramseybuckeye and Tamia for the 3rd and 2nd place!

I still wonder whether I would like the photo better without boot myself...I will never know, I know....
I guess I have to think of a new theme? Won't be an easy job....

Hey thanks, Reeftool. I certainly didn't expect to place with so many excellent contributions. Congratulations Rense and Tom!

Rense, you could always clone out the boot and see what you think! I prefer it as is, though. It's full of symbolism. A man who is down and out, his hat held out asking for help -- very hard to do -- yet someone is "putting the boot in...".

Rense, sorry for the late reply, I work Sundays and have little time on the computer. I think the boot is what made the shot so interesting. Without it I think the photo would have lacked a little of the emotion it produces.

Thanks Reeftool, I think any of these could have been winners. Congrats to Tamia, I thought about something like that, but you really pulled it off. Congrats Rense, very moving photo, and I think the boot should not get booted. Very different photo from you, I like it.
