P52-3-20 Colour: without colour
Posted By: Rense, 12-10-2010, 04:16 AM

Wow! Our last week around the concept Colour, at last.... This 20th week of
P52-3 we will focus on the theme Without Colour. The first idea was to ask
for B&W photos, but sepia etc. is ok too.

Just some backgrounds and some ideas:
5 Black and White photography tips
Black and White the digital way
40 Beautiful examples of Black and White photography

Time Frame: pictures for week 20 are to be taken and posted between
20101211 and 20101219, so from December 11th - December 19th, 2010.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/10506...-year-3-a.html.

Have fun shooting!

Black & white...you're asking for trouble now...you know how many nice B&W shots we already see around here...

I'm in!

Haven't taken any B&W in a while, so this should be cool...

I'm SOOOOOO glad I'm judging this weeks contest and won't have to worry about being the judge for this one. I expect this will be a tough contest with a lot of entries.

Hard decision here and I still may change my mind ;> I had a B&W conversion from today that I really loved. But, I like this one just as well, and it's SOOC. Nice grey overcast day to shoot in the cemetery. This isn't strictly B&W, but since there is no real color in here I think it fits. Let me know if you disagree and I'll put up the conversion instead. C&C welcome.

Taken just a few hours ago, thought this would be a nice B&W image. All ov the spots in the sky are snowflakes.

Tom, that is beautiful! And I always laugh when I see the hay bales with snow on top...they remind me of frosted mini wheats.

Thanks Rense, Dan. One of those decisive moments, went out and drove in the snow storm for a couple of hours yesterday. Was starting to head back to town when I passed this field and stopped (slid a couple hundred yards), did a three point turn on the road and went back to get this one. snow was coming down really hard and blowing too. I thought it created the right blend of ground disappearing into sky.

Tom and Rense....fabulous shots!

Here's mine -
Wrought Iron fence at night. Not alot of colour to begin with but lots of neat light and shadow play which is what drew me to it.
