POTW #144 December 12-26 December
Posted By: fotaki, 12-18-2010, 05:51 AM

Welcome to the 144th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

Thanks to Bbluesman for hosting last week and for asking me this week.

This edition covers photos taken between December 12-26, December 2010, or shots from last week you haven't processed until now.

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note to everyone: Remember, you can post your shots from this week AND last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you're shooting day-to-day with your cameras. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax cameras in their parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas and hopefully learn from one another which is great too!

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as before:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday December 12-26 December, 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Thanks for hosting John!

I took advantage of a chance to get out in the daylight yesterday and caught some nice views of downtown Calgary from a park near my home.

A few from today. Yes a couple have good bit of PP. Just a little something to stir the pot in the anti-PP thread over in General. ;-)

Robin, I believe you have cloned yourself, there are three photographers in that ornament!
There are three of me in the picture because two are missing. Pictured are the poet/writer/editor, father/husband and photographer/designer. Missing are the composer/performer and teacher/researcher. They were in the adjoining room I think.

Robin.....Have the same experience but with Ouzo
Funny you should say that, since ouzo was what I was drinking at my first Christmas party this year.

We've been having a lot of rain lately, so I decided to take advantage of it.

Thanks Joe. Nice views of snowy Calgary. One of my wife's relations lived there more than thirty years ago - well before they developed that skyline.

VaughnA......that is one derelict house!! I don't think your PP excessive (subject responds quite well IMO) and I like the border treatment you've given on #2.

Greeks usually drink their ouzo in the Summer, in the evening and often with BBQ'd Octopus or Squid (Kalamari). Never mind the Cholesterol/liver damage, the combined smell and taste is fantastic.

SpecialK.....Great interior capture. I'm a bit queasy about the anatomical stuff - but that's just me. Nice Cacti, our cactus here have switched off for the Winter.

Frank.....I love your rain shots. Crystal clear, nice colour/contrast and lovely OOF work. Shows what that f/2.8 macro can really do.

Thanks for hosting John (Fotaki). Great images once again from everyone. Looking forward to your Greek images Fotaki. Here are a few from my week.

1. Drummer boys
2. This tree made me think of a dragon-looked for some fire, but found green
leaves instead.
3. Love gone to the ground
4. Making a mockery of Mugabe's Zimbabwe, currently the place in the world
where you can become a millionair in the fastest time possible. Even I can
become one
5. Musical fountains.

Have a great week and a blessed Christmas-that is if you don't visit this forum before then. Hopefully i'll be here.

Noel

I absolutely think there is a place for a little over the top processing and these are excellent examples. Besides, sometimes it's just fun.

noel.....Thanks. I like all in your set. The Bonsai tree is amazing. Grows so well in just a few inches of soil and looks so attractive. We had one a few years ago but was stolen.
The 10 billion note (what a farce that is!) Probably just enough for a Nescafe.
Love the spectacular water/light display. How does the music come into it ?

xjjohnno.....Thanks. Nice shots of some lovely birds. Can't put a name to the first two but the third looks a bit like a Crow or Raven. Your market shots are showing signs of Christmas - even at the meat shop.

The first bird is an eastern rosella, second bird is a crested pigeon, third bird is our magpie, all natives.
