Weekly Challenge #32 - Landscapes
Posted By: Eaglerapids, 09-30-2007, 01:48 PM

I've looked through all the challenges so far and I see "Mountains" and "Urban Landscapes". I love landscapes and I would like to see your representations of the countryside from our diverse community. Of course they can contain mountains but mountains don't have to be the main focus. I would like to see farmhouses or barns and all those kinda things but I'm not looking for cities. I would like to see where you guys live and what you see when you go for a ride or hike in the country, the places you go when you want to get out of the cities.
For example:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 6 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax. (added by Jonas for Challenge #23: Just use any camera you want. I'm not discriminating anyone as long as the is an active member here)

The competition is open from right now until midnight Saturday October 6th. I will judge on Sunday the 7th and post results during that day.

Good Luck!!

PS: I am not a good judge nor do I portray one on tv:-). I don't feel qualified to judge anything much less the incredible photos you guys are capable of but I promise to do my best.

Simon, I just knew that shot was coming to the weekly challenge after I saw it in your "Post your photos" thread.

I don't envy Eaglerapids this week!

Just wondering, after several of us had input into Simon's different versions of this photo in "Post Your Photos", if he wins this week, do we share the spoils???
Dont worry, just my sense of humour

You have two pictures posted so you must decide which one to remove. (I still see your first picture posted)

Here is a landscape within the thick virgin woods and steep ravines of Rickett's Glen Natural Area, along Kitchen Creek. It was shot last fall with the K100D @ 31mm.

Just got back from London England on Wednesday - was reviewing my pictures and thought this might be appropriate for the Weekly Challenge.
I was arriving in London early Sunday morning - it was foggy and I thought I take a few pictures - was surprised how well they turned out...

I agree with our members - there are many great pictures - will be a hard one to judge! Good luck!

Wow, shmikey's is very different and attractive.

more of the same from me tho... "into the dust-bowl" ... morning decent into Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. To put the magnitude into perspective that's a white land-rover off on the right edge going down the decent trail.

(probably the case with all, but the pix just not the same 800px wide -- click the image for the whole decent and ascent series in-to and out-of the crater, from where you can get to the originals if you'd like. Some real nice panoramic crops at 12mm in there.)

Some amazing stuff here...

Glad I don't have to judge this one.....

Just a little change of pace since the hills around the east coast could hardly be called mountains. How about a 'seascape' from my recent trip to Newfoundland.

The sun was setting over my shoulder and really brought out the colours in the water and landscape.
