Hi all!
I started taking part in the weekly photo contests, because it helps me focus each week's shooting on a particular photography skill, though in the past few weeks, I've been entering photos from my "stock". Even though I haven't shot a photo for this week's contest, what I learned this week about my photography is that I don't typically shoot landscapes!
Here's my entry, a shot I took from a nearby park called the Tourne, facing west, of New Jersey's rolling hills. As I said, I don't shoot a lot of landscapes, but this one stood out to me, despite it's not following the "rule" of thirds:
Admittedly, it didn't stand out because the hills of NJ are that compelling, but because of the little character I (accidentally) caught in the midst of the landscape. That's not a dust spec in the top left, that's a dragonfly.
I hope no one minds that I've put 2 images for the 2nd time in my entry in the past couple months.... If that's inappropriate, please let me know, in the thread or via PM. As usual, the re-size doesn't do any one's shots any favors, so here's a 100% crop of the little guy from the original:
I know the topic is landscapes, not insects, but it is literally one of the only landscapes I've shot over the past 6 months with my K100D. I obviously need to look more towards the scenery!
Thanks for looking!
