POTW 150 23 January - 6 February
Posted By: Nomad, 01-29-2011, 04:51 PM

Thanks for asking me to host Tamia, you always do such a great job that I have high standards to meet this week.

POTW #150 January 23 - February 6

Welcome to the 150th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

This edition covers photos taken between January 23rd and February 6th, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week! Not a bad deal, eh?

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday January 23rd to Sunday February 6th 2011. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Thank you Nomad for hosting this week. Some great shots once again. Apologies, I was not able to post anything to the last weeks POTW, apologies to Tamia. Had little chance to get the trigger finger going.
But was able to do some yesterday, and I am off on a bit of a weekend trip, so better get these posted before Sunday. I am so loving these snow pics, and feel guilty posting images from Sunny South Africa, and now that the flooding rains have subsided, there is more greenery than anything else.

Also visited two antique and collectable shops, what opportunities there for pics. Could spend a day there.

Hope you don't mind me posting more than my regular share.

1. Green meadows with the city on the horizon
2. Our trees do not have snow, but other white things
3. A building close to where I live.
4. Some antique implement-who knows what it is-mounted on the fence.
5. And another farming implement, mounted on the fence.

Between work and shoveling, I haven't had much time to shoot, but did get these after the storm. The first one was in today's furious flurry, but the river shots are from yesterday when the sun came out to highlight the foot of powder we got.

Waiting Out the Storm

Snowmounds

Reflections

Snowy Riverbank

Sparkling Shallows

Those shots are really beautiful, Tamia. They, at least make me feel a bit cooler.
Love the river shots.

Photolady : humidity a bit above average. Extreme perspiration conditions, I can tell you.

I haven't had the camera out in a couple of weeks, who would want to venture out in that.???
I will have a lot of catching up to do, I think.

For some reason I have never seen the POTW threads before. Hope you guys don't mind if I join in. This looks fun. Here are a few I took last week. Some of you may have seen a couple of them on the critique forum already, so for you sorry for the duplicates.

And a little break from the kid theme.

Welcome to POTW, Barry! What beautiful eyes in the child in the first photo.

Thanks Bruce. I hope it cools off for you soon down there.

A couple more from the snow days:

Cobwebs

Snowbrella I sometimes use an umbrella when shooting in snow and rain. Cheap and portable protection.

New plastic wonder, kit lens, 50-200mm. These were shot on an an overcast day at f5.6, aperture priority mode through my kitchen window glass. No PP other than cropping and light compression.

Hi again all,

My apologies for being a bit of an absent host this week but work issues have kept me jumping a bit. I did get out to shoot a bit today and captured this somewhat boring shot of Goat Island Light in Maine. Flat light just about 10 minutes before the skies opened up with very heavy snow.
