POTW 151 30 January - 13 February
Posted By: Clou, 02-05-2011, 04:50 PM

Welcome to the 151st edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week!

Thanks to Nomad for hosting last week and for passing the torch to me for this week.

This edition covers photos taken between January 31st and February 13th, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week! Not a bad deal, eh?

A special welcome to all new members: Join us old hands and post your shots from this week and last week!

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Date: Sunday January 31st to Sunday February 13th 2011. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Great new pictures - keep 'em coming!

@Nomad and mattb123: Thanks! Looking back I see a lot of thing I could have done better, but as a start...

rob1234 - thanks for showing some green - this is the color I'd like to see soon here as well. You will certainly have fun with your radio triggers.

ohce - one can see the fun in the snow, but it would have been better without the lines.

Joe (jimschrei) - safety shot or not, I love to see some green here. The second one is dominated by cold colors as a contrast.

mattb123 - although I am desperately waiting for higher temperatures, I like your winter scenery shots. How far was the eagle away from you (or should i say how close )?

reeftool - looks like a great deal for fun, but for bathing I prefer higher temperatures

Thanks! The eagle was maybe 50 yards away. I tried to get closer but he spooked and few off. These shots are cropped a bit, mostly for composition, but it also makes it appear a little closer.

Steaming Lake

A view from AuSable Point with steam rising from open water on a section of Lake Champlain. The background are the Green mountains in Vermont. The temp was about -4F

Some really nice shots there Matt!

Rob1234 - I like the photos but the lines seem unnatural. I think those shots would be great without them!
Thanks for the critique. Quick and dirty clone out - better? I was only messing about in the back garden, and my shed is the only thing in it to snap!

Was at the Planes of Fame museum, where the last living member of the Lockheed "skunk works" gave a talk, mostly about the P-38 Lightning. Another Lockheed thermodynamicist talked about heat on the SR-71 spy-plane (about 550 F on the bottom, 500F on top, 800F at engine inlet at 80,000 ft/Mach 3).

I do think that's better. The remote flash effect is nice. I'm going to have to get some of those triggers myself, I think.

BHamms - I like your fog shot, I wish mine were always as good.

SpeciaK - Your photo did not get through to me - could you check what happened?

Thanks for hosting, Clou. Great shots so far. Rob, I think you did a fine job cloning out the wires.

Been shoveling, mostly, this last week, but had a chance to shoot in the sun. First, though...

Put these in last week's thread by mistake. Thanks Clou for rescuing my cars from virtual oblivion!

Shot yesterday with a 24mm version of the Vivitar A01.

SpecialK - now I can see it - nice ensemble of plane models.

Tamia - Hope you recovered well from shoveling, my favorite picture is 'Woodpiles'

rparmar - very nice portraits - both are used to modeling

A few from my SIF album. Using the K20dIR and DA*55 f1:1.4. My K5 is on the wait list at CRIS . I've also been trying to rediscover the square format from my Rolleiflex days (that I still use once in awhile).

Jeff, these infrared shots are awesome. I will have to get over to check out your album. I have hardly had time to read the forum lately. The landscape is my favourite, it has a nice antique feel to it.

Tamia- I'm getting sick of shoveling too. Nice winter scenery.
rparmar- Excellent job with the cats.
Jeff- Well done with the IR. The square format works well with the IR shots.
