Winners: P52-3-29 Subject - Glass
Posted By: jmschrei, 02-21-2011, 09:05 PM

First off, as usual, I do not feel comfortable or especially skilled to give serious critique when judging these threads. I will share an impression or reaction to each entry based on how effectively the image presents the subject "glass", since this is a subject thread.

wllm: Clever use of a glass of water marked acqua, but the background is almost overwhelming. It works very well for the theme blue but perhaps less so for glass?

SpecialK: Coloured glass seems to be a theme this week. The unusual angle which makes the most of the purple light reflected through the skylight makes for an image that holds the viewer's attention.

Jools: There is a wonderful texture to this piece of glass. An abstract, close up take on the subject that is very effective.

jheu02: If it seemed that it would be hard to improve on your initial out-of-time- frame offering, no worry. The light, the flare and the smooth bokeh highlight the depth and beauty of the glass balls.

bbluesman: To be honest Mark I love this shot, the composition is wonderful and I even took a trip to the Luxgen website to check the car out but somehow the tail lights don't say glass to me.

Tamia: You managed to combine glass in three different forms in a very simple yet effective photo. Very nice.

Rense: What a fascinating camera and nicely captured. However the glass seems to get lost in the overall image even with two lenses...

Iris: Lovely use of macro to highlight the delicate beauty of fine cut glass.

Manel Brand: The crop and the composition combine to make this an extremely effective image. It has a great sense of mystery.

ramseybuckeye: The stark and minimalist take on the theme creates a sharp contrast to other entries. I like the square crop and overall composition.

Bramela: Another bright piece of glass. An interesting perspective but I can't help but wonder what this piece would look like from another angle.

sam1989: Definitely a great shot with a wonderful perspective but, you're right, glass is not the main theme. Even though the windows are beautiful there are so many other features that really contribute to this image and the windows are really just part of the background.

So, the tough part, the winners...
