POTW from 20th March to 3rd April

POTW- 13 March - 27 March 2011
POTW 158: 20th March - 3rd April 2011

Welcome to the 158th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to noelcmn for hosting last week and for passing the torch to me.

This edition covers photos taken between 20 March and 3rd of April, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Hi all,
Let me first say that this is my first time hosting any type of forum, looking forward to seeing all the post.

My two post are form last weekends full moon. I went out early and tried to get some shots of the moon setting in the morning.

These pictures were taken in Belleair, Florida looking out towards Belleair Beach and the Gulf of Mexico.

This is my second week with my new K5 and I'm still getting used to it after moving up from the K10D

Thanks,
Rob

Nice to see some signs of spring!
I just got back from a trip to Zurich, Switzerland and Sines, Portugal for work. Unfortunately I did not get very much time to shoot but I did squeeze a few shots off in my off time and while traveling.

Been busy and have completed about 100 shots in the last week. Clocked my K20D over to 30K. Here is but one example, but I just dropped others in B&W, Limited lenses and bokeh threads.

OK one more. Noise/grain is of course an aesthetic choice.

Thanks Rob, for taking on the POTW responsibilities this weekl
And as usual, some great pics coming through, starting with your wonderful evocative photos Rob. Love that sunset shot rumseybuckeye.
Nomad, I have been to Zurich twice, in 1980, and 2008. Have very similar pics of that church. It was of course Zwinlgi's church, from the Reformation period, and it was wonderful to be inside it too. And I so much wanted to mount the Pulpit (for those of you who don't know-being a pastor creates these special interests) but it was not allowed. All the 1980 photos I have were with my trusty old Ricoh KR5 Super. And those from 2008 with my Sony P73.
And nice to see the signs of spring.
Here are some more from my visit to Pretoria National Zoological Gardens
A beautiful statue and place to have a picnic.

Sun dial, with Pretoria in the background.

A view of the city though the bars of the viewing platform for carnivores.

And Spoonbill portrait.

Have a great day.

From a trip aboard the Walla Walla last weekend (Washington State Ferries, Bremerton => Seattle route). K100D with DA 12-24 and Promaster 70-300, handheld (given the winds and boat vibration, SR was useful even on a bright day!). Post was minimal, a bit of cropping, minor sharpening, and a wee bit of adjusting levels on a couple of 'em.

Jim

In addition to the ship's speed, there was quite the breeze blowing down from the north... All those pretty whitecaps woulda been exciting in a smaller vessel.

Yes, that narrow little gap is the passage we're aiming for (Rich Passage) to sneak between the island on the left and the peninsula on the right...

Some of the local wildlife catching a few rays...

What's a boat trip without a seagull?

And a not-as-close-as-it-looks encounter between a sailboat and the other Ferry on this route (the Kitsap).

Been a while since I've posted, too much going on elsewhere and little time online.

But...got a "new" to me Vivitar 200mm M42 prime recently, and of course had to go out and find a bird...

I'm liking this lens quite well, probably going to start getting rid of all the zooms before long...maybe

Noel I love the spoonbill shot, great work. Some other vbery nice shots here but I can't remember who and what...as usual, nice work everyone.
