Pic of the Week 27 March thru 10 April
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 04-02-2011, 09:34 PM

Welcome to the 159th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to Rob for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos taken between 27 March and 10 April 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Mar, nice shots of the Ibis and Egret, looks like they were quite pleased to pose for your new K-x. Nice catches, I like seeing the foot of a long legged bird.

Joe, Sorry about your snowstorm, we had one last week, then in the 60s this morning. I like that little icicle, nice touch showing the melting has started. I imagine right now you'd like to shoot something green though, besides a conifer!

Johnno, nice bike show, looks like you know how to pick the photogenic bikes. Looks like a lot of cash sitting there. I don't know bikes, what is the first one? I'm guessing it is a rare gem.

Robin, Nice use of space and patterns, but the overhead light sets it off, good comp.

Paul, Beautiful friend, excellent portrait! How old is he?

Michael, Looks like you had a very diverse Saturday. Nice to see someone is getting someone in the Northern hemisphere is getting some nice weather, top down on the rod, trees in bloom. The headless guy is interesting, how do you wear glasses without ears? The lamp shadow is nice with the colored glass, cool look.

Looks at all the pretty colors! When you get it finished and working, you can send it to Michigan. I'll gladly pay the shipping .. Your brother won't mind, much, Will He?

Tom the first bike is a Moto Guzzi, built some time in the 60s.

I love this shot, the clouds, the treatment but, more than anything, calling attention to the distant power line in the title when so often when shooting landscapes photographers try to avoid or clone out power lines.

Yeah, I kind of thought that was the way it would go... I hope Brother appreciates your efforts.

A couple of recent shots, all taken with the Vivitar 200 mm f3.5.

Hawk, barely makes it since it was taken the 27th...pushed the contrast 20% and added 20% sharpening.

Another hawk, taken the 2nd.

Bluebird let me get really close, this shot really shows what the Vivitar 200 can do. I'm liking this lens a lot...

Northern Flicker taken the 3rd, he's building a nest in that dead tree. I got some more shots yesterday, nicer than this one, but none are uploaded yet.

Thanks Joe. I am currently rethinking ecology as a practice completely inclusive of human activities. The power line here is as beautiful as the clouds or the scrub, IMO.
