Pic of the Week 11th thru 24th April
Posted By: JeremytheIndian, 04-17-2011, 05:45 AM

Welcome to the 161st edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to christophleipzig for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos taken between 11th and 24th of April 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

These were all shot with the DA55-300 on my K20D, and all of these were shot at 300mm.

cdurfor, all great shots, but I really like the angle and building in the background of the first three, well done!

No problem fellas

@ramseybuckeye - Nice shots I recognize the Chickadee what type of bird is in the photo above it?

edit: I am an idiot, just saw the titles above the photos. Guess I was distracted by the nice images.

I thought I'd try my new K-x on P mode today. So, I strolled outside and these three are what I've processed so far.

I was at a sound art festival in Cork for a couple of days and shot a few things. I rather like this setup to illustrate the opening night. It was shot in the Beamish & Crawford House, once home to the famous brewery.

It has been snowing all weekend, we now have had 3x the average snowfall for the entire month of April and the month is only half over.
These shots were taken Friday afternoon, just as the storm was rolling in. The powerlines are a response of sorts to Robin's (rparmar) excellent landscape from a week or so ago. This park is just down river from the dam so powerlines are hard to avoid. I decided to put one centre stage instead.

Mar, that Non Hybrid Zinnia is very good!
Michael, definitely seeing an eye theme here, the lion looks guilty.
Robin, any samples left, great background for otherwise drab book.
Joe, nice, I like the dramatic cliff, and the wires go on. I'm sure you're ready for some green though. We have some, I mowed the lawn today, but still too cold for the tulips to bloom. I did start seeing the smaller wildflowers over a week ago though. Winter's trying to hang on too long.

Jeremy....thanks for doing the hosting this week

Tom....like #1 and#3 of your shots. Must have taken a lot of stealth and patience to nail that deer. Love the mess that Chickadee's making of the tree (or maybe that's from other birds).

cdurfor.....Very impressed with your flower shots (particularly the last one - Blackthorn ?) and especially the careful control of focus. I assume you were using a R/angle finder ?

Mar....some great flower photos from you too. Your yellow flower looks to me to be Lavatoria (judging by the petals) but maybe those are Summer flowering - so perhaps not

Michael....great abstract reflections

Concluding shots from last week -

Thanks for the comment on the Zinnia Tom.

John, that yellow flower is a purslane. A wildflower, low growing and some consider it an herb.

Here are two more from me today:

This is a very tiny wasp:

Titmouse, kind of noisy but still a good shot IMO.
