Pic of the Week 17 April thru 30 April
Posted By: SpecialK, 04-23-2011, 07:01 PM

Welcome to the 162st edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to JeremyTheIndian for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos taken between 17 April and 30 April. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Continuing the nature theme, I had some extra time off this weekend. Monday I visited a local grassland park to capture dramatic clouds:

I was over at my other brother's house this morning. He wasn't home but my sister in law was and she's a flower person. I got this shot first:

The Tuffy was hanging around so I got this one of him too. Tuffy is a siamese 15 years old and still able to chase down and catch squirrels:

Three separate shots of a Tiger Lily growing by the footpath. Difficult to get much dof on such a close shot so I went for a full face on the first one and relied on some cropping on the last two.

John, are you sure that's a tiger lily? To me it looks like a orchid of some kind, if it is a tiger lily, it's lovely and a great capture.

Here is one from me today also. First time I've gotten her to sit still long enough to get a photo of her:

rparmar - love the cat eye's.

jmschrei - that first shot stands out with a nice composition. Somewhat bleak surroundings :-)

photolady (1) - looks like the focus caught the cheek, just off a hair :-)

emetcalf (1) - that flower makes a splash.

fotaki - nice series. Like the first shot, but the detail of #2 is interesting, too.

photolady (2) - that gives me a "country" feeling.

emetcalf (2) - that was just a found shot?

A nice page continuing the nature theme. And now for something completely different:

Well, the cat just wouldn't sit still for a photo so you're right the focus is off. Every time I pointed the lens at him, he turned his head.

Yes, Ma'ma I was playing with my new lens back and forth on Macro and Normal and found this. I also found another feather larger and real dirty I will post it soon.
Does the flower look better, practicing with manual and settings on the Macro lens?
Thanks

I love how they do that. Schweppes knows when I am going to get the camera so she will completely change activities in the 30 seconds it takes... even if she has been previously fixated for ten minutes!
