Picture of the Week (POTW): 15-29 May 2011
Posted By: rparmar, 05-22-2011, 05:24 AM

Welcome to edition 166 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to stevebrot for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from 15-19 May 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

More lovely flowers, but here's something to take things in a different direction.

Jeff attempts to fend off the Zone with another flower! But it cannot be done!

Robin, I like the zone, this stormy sky from my front porch casts kind of a dark mood

Was able to get out and try a star trail this week. This is Skyline Arch in Arches National Park outside Moab.

Thanks guys for the last two pictures, both of which focus on dark skies. And with the weather lately that is so appropriate.

Here's a pair from yesterday at a local garden:

Both shot with my SMC-K 55/1.8 + 13mm tube. This first was sooc other than resize and a little unsharp mask afterwards. I loved the colors.

Aussie Values

Early morning in the main street of Huskisson, NSW. Only the newsagent is open. Note the level of security on the surf shop compared to the ANZ Bank four doors down. We know what matters

Thanks John and Richard for keeping the week going. Seems to be not so much activity in these threads lately!

Here in Ireland every shot has shutters and locks... not just the surf shops!

Another early morning shot from Huskisson.

Hmmm. I think I've lightened the dark areas too much. What do you think?

A slightly different perspective.

Richard, I think the last crop looks too cramped. As for the exposure... I prefer the second.

msutbone... I think I've seen hills and fog like that round here somewhere.

Thanks, Robin. I agree with you. It's easy to overdo things with the K5's dynamic range. Someone parked right in the middle of the bottom of my shot in the last one.

Richard.
