P52-3-46 - Landscape - Portrait Landscape
Posted By: jmschrei, 06-03-2011, 07:39 PM

I'm holding down the fort for Rense for a few weeks and perhaps you will be relieved to hear that we have a new theme: Landscapes

This week the focus is Portrait Landscapes (that is landscapes in portrait orientation).

Just some backgrounds and some ideas:
All I could come up with was this dpchallenge from a few years back but you will find plenty of jaw dropping images from which to draw inspiration here.

Time Frame: pictures for week 46 are to be taken and posted between
20110604 and 20110612, so from June 4th 2011 - June 12th 2011.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: P52 year 3.

As Rense would say, have fun shooting!

I was looking into an entry for this round, but as I will be judging, I will refrain.

I just hope there is a surge of entries into this one.
Portrait Format Landscape, ..not that difficult surely.

Yes let's make Bruce's task very difficult with lots of fine entries.

I would love to enter but getting out of the city to find landscape within the timeframe is difficult. We'll see if I make it out of the city this weekend. I always have my trusty K2000 with me.

Okay Bruce, here is an entry from today's Single in June outing. I do reserve the right to change it if I come up with something I like better by Sunday though!

Bruce, another one for you. I also reserve the right to make a change.
Joe's link to some inspirational examples are amazing, almost depressingly so.

Seeing that everybody around wants to make Bruce's job difficult, I thought I'd join the fun Can't make up my mind about which one. No 1 is my offcial entry-my flatmate's choice.

Then there is my choice

Then there is the one I really like

Well what can I say- I have had this project on the brain for the whole week.

Happy judging Bruce!

I've been missing the P52 challenges because work's gotten in the way, but I was able to get out for some shooting this week. I'll try something a bit different. I call it...

Hydroscape Can't escape the impress of hydropower on the landscape in these parts.

quiet walk in the afternoon

I got out of work early and took the opportunity to go Maine Audubon at Gisland Farm. It was a wonderfully warm, peaceful afternoon - there was so much to visually enjoy.

I was intrigued by the cloud formations as they moved across the sky - especially when they were reflected upon the water at the pond. As I was photographing the swallows were swooping around me, the frogs were calling in chorus, and the insects were abuzz. It was just what was needed at the end of the day.

Images were taken with K2000 and pentax 35 mm lens
