POTW Photo Of The Week 168 May 29 - June 12
Posted By: JeffJS, 06-05-2011, 06:32 PM

Welcome to edition 168 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to Mattt for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from 29 May - June 12 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

I'm just now going through my shots from the weekend. This on came out better than I thought it would. At sunset after our softball game Saturday, straight into the sun with the DA 15 and some fill flash with the Metz 48.

Nice outcome Richard.

I was up by the marine center and behind the marina today, shooting Pelicans in flight. I shot the island and captured something I didn't know I had until I started processing the photos. It's not a large file, 300mm doesn't reach that far, but I was surprised at what I got.

And as a matter of course, I got the one below at my local city park:

Excellent shots, Photolady. All I ever see at our parks are a few geese or ducks.

Thanks Richard. Luckily, I live on an intercoastal waterway where I see a variety of water birds. Pelicans, Herons, Egrets, Gulls, and shore birds. I miss ducks and geese, which I used to photograph a few years ago.

Thanks doggy, glad you like our little game of "Photo of the Week" as it produces some really nice photos from around the world.

I was off work last week and managed to get in quite a bit of photography. Making my way through the shots is taking longer. A few weeks behind but finally it is spring here!

I've not been in a studio for some time now - so was overdue a studio based session. This lovely model gave me the perfect excuse to get back into the studio and play with the lights again.

Keep them coming everyone.

Warped. Like the second one more than the first. One of her legs looks 2 feet long and the other looks 12 feet long. Still, shooting with a model is something I would like to try. Thanks for posting.

Photolady, Sometimes it Is surprising what we find when we pixel peep. You're doing a fine job with the big white birds.

Richard, Glad to see you posting photos and providing proof that a flash is useful even in daylight (regardless of the angle of the sun).

Joe, quite nice on the landscapes. The B&W one has to be my favorite in the groups.

From me? Of course, another... nope. How about a Nosy Hound?

That'll be the 30mm wide angle fisheye kicking in to make a long leg look even longer - first time in the studio with that lens and it was fun to play with

Thanks for hosting JeffJS-some really good pics coming through. Like that real close up of the dog-can almost feel the wet nose there.

Photolady-is that green cere on the heron natural? excellent colour rendition!

Cold and miserable in Johannesburg these days, a miserly 2 degrees at 09:00 this morning, compared to a normal 13 or 15degrees. Plus a wind chill factor. We have had some very unusual winter rain and storms this week too. And there is talk of snow in Johannesburg this winter, something which happens rarely. Hope it does. This is what the heavy downpours did

Winter worx

Double flare plus miserable weather

I waited for this fire to spring to life, but it took to long, and I eventually had to leave. Pity-would have been nice-perhaps another occasion.

Yes, the green is natural. This is their breeding phase.
