P52-3-48 - Landscape - Diagonal lines
Posted By: jmschrei, 06-17-2011, 07:35 PM

We are nearing the end of the third year of this project, it would be good to see it through. Since tomorrow is World Pentax Day think landscapes. This week's theme is diagonal lines, a classic compositional tool in landscape photography.

Just some backgrounds and some ideas:
This site may help.

Time Frame: pictures for week 48 are to be taken and posted between
20110618 and 20110626, so from June 18th 2011 - June 26th 2011.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-3 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20100731 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two
“Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52.

Additional Information, including the scheme with subjects: P52 year 3.

As Rense would say, have fun shooting!

I am impressed with the entries thus far. As there a few days left yet, and I will be judging, I hope to see some more coming in.

No harm putting your shot up. Don't worry I won't be too harsh, I am a softie at heart.

Part of the Power Grid

Yesterday was not a great day for photographing - rainy, wet, cold and windy. I was wandering around the waterfront on the other side of the bay, having very little success keeping the lens dry and images interesting - when I came across a small power hub near the docks.

As I was listening to the humming of the electrical station as it sent power out into the community, I realized that I, literally, was being over seen by this tower - very graphic, with it's infrastructure creating this fascinating pattern of grids and diagonals.

I got this shot on Thursday while pursuing my other hobby - motorcycling.
Taken with a Olympus Tough 6000, a K20 is just too big to carry on my bike.

A view of the Olympic Mtns from the ferry crossing Puget Sound yesterday evening. (Mt Constance, Edmonds-Kingston run on the Spokane). I left the colors alone, just a bit of cropping and leveling the horizon...
