Welcome to edition 170 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to jmschrei (Joe) for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from June 12 - June 26, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Welcome to POTW #170 and thanks to jmschrei for hosting last week.

An excellent collection of photos last week and a credit to all who posted. I noticed that there was definitely a 'bird' theme to the thread and I wish I was able to emulate some of the great shots that were sent in.

In my neck of the woods all we get is Seagulls and Sparrows during the day and Owls and Jay's at night. The Sparrows wake me up in the morning and the Jay's send me off at night

Anyway, hope to see some more great shots this week - just a couple from our garden to start things.

Thanks for hosting John. Love the flowers John. My mom used to have a gardenia bush outside my bedroom window. The smell was so strong it gave me a headache.

Thanks Jeff, you're right I just copied the names. I've been fiddling about with the Quote icon in the message box and realised there must be a simpler way.

Thanks for taking over as host John. Beautiful images here already, not the least of which is that lovely magnolia blossom.

I had a very productive Pentax Photo Day, the first I have been able to take part in for a while (but I'm not having much luck uploading the files). In the meantime, I thought I would add some flowers and birds to the growing collection here:

Mar...lovely bird shots. Seems you have a real variety of birds in your area.

Richard....never heard of a Grackle. Interesting if slightly sinister looking bird IMO.

Frank...I can imagine you laying flat on the deck for those shots. But it's a subject that gives plenty of time to focus.

Robin ....interesting abstracts you've created in your reimaginings blog. But isn't this photo-montage/photo-compositing by another name ?

ruggiex....love the 'encounters' shot and wonderful Horseshoe panorama. A place I'd love to visit before it's too late.

SpecialK....can't make out what the Epitaph is all about but is that an original Shuttle craft - the fisheye makes it difficult to scale
