Weekly Challenge #37- Still life, food
Posted By: Eaglerapids, 11-13-2007, 09:31 PM

Ok, let's do a Still Life but it has to be a food theme. What did you have for dinner? or desert? Since I've come down with my LBA disease this is generally my dinner:

and I'd like to see what I'm missing, lol.

Contest closes on Tuesday Nov 20th at Midnight. I’ll post the winner(s) on Wednesday evening. Now, I race Wednesday evenings so it very well could be later on into the evening before I will be able to post the winners.

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax. Just use any camera you want. No discriminating anyone as long as the shooter is an active member here.

Previous Challenge Subjects:
1-Statues, 2-Wheels, 3-Speed, 4-Peace, 5-Survival, 6-Macro, 7-Mountains, 8-Children, 9-Post Processing, 10- Windows & Doors, 11-Sport, 12-Urban Landscape, 13-Wisdom, 14-Power, 15-Music, 16-Pathways, 17-Lines, 18-Storm, 19-Boats, 20-Water, 21 - Golden Hour, 22 - Natural Lighting, Portraits, 23- Motion Blur, 24-Simplicity, 25-Color, 26-Cars, 27-Repetition, 28-Wildlife, 29-Epiphany, 30-Contrast, 31-Pets, 32-Landscapes, 33-Coastal, 34-Churches, 35-Bridges, 36-Creation

This picture was taken in an open market in Mexico. This is something you would almost never see in a grocery market in a suburban Canadian city. Some people may be repulsed by it at first glance but the reality (for me, anyway) starts to settle in after a minute. Pork doesn't come from a store, it comes from an animal. I am a hunter and a meat-eater so it doesn't bother me. If you eat meat and this picture disturbs you, maybe you should ask, "why"?

For all the non-meat eating vegetarians - just skip over this one.

Anyway, I give you food in still life - Mexican style.

Tim, you saying this is a real shot! Man, looks like a graphic - well done. Excellent everything, including the tomato popping-out and the label "Super ideas"

Dinner: chicken breasts with spices and veggies (should be ready in about an hour from now, lol)
Nice work and look quite appetizing. Aren't you glad no contamination between chicken and Pentax.

Leave to a Canuck to post a Tim's coffee as "food"
Krispy Kream tried a branch here in Windsor and went bust WITHIN a year.

I was in Charlotte, NC then Nashville for 2mo this summer, I had Krispy Kream doughnuts and I was highly disappointment. I'll admit Tim's isn't as good as it used to be, especially the Walnut Crunch, it's just brown chocolate cake now instead of an infinitely dense log that could hurt someone with the right velocity. That said, a Glazed Cruller at KK was an utter disappointment, just a plain store bought doughnut dipped in unsatisfying liquid sugar vs. a hallow cored melt in your mouth Tim's Honey Cruller; the Krispy Kream Cruller wasn't even hallow inside!
As for the cream filled chocolate glazed, I never want another one. I think the only thing the place has going for it would be the Hot and Fresh, they do taste good until it's cold.

.End Rant... I want a doughnut now.

Well yeah ! Isn't Caffeine one of the major food groups? Gawd I hope so , the amount I injest :-) I should have bought a Breakfast Sandwich beside it ..ummmmmmmmmm - not so much a donut fan (like the maple dip occasionally or a Cruller ) - but a double double sometimes is indeed 'lunch or a mid day snack'

I had a Krispy Kream once and yep - did nothing for me.

Took this over the summer. Soon added was watermelon, blueberry and kiwi. Simpler ingredients made for a much more compelling image IMO tho.

yes, it was as good as it looks...
