POTW (Picture of the Week) #172 July 3, 2011 - July 17, 2011
Posted By: TOUGEFC, 07-03-2011, 01:35 AM

Welcome to edition 172 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to xs400 for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from July 3 - July 17, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Michael, I love old train engines, very good captures, thanks for showing these.

Rense, beautiful colors, well done.

Robin, All of these are good, I like unfurled and the tap shot, although the reeds make me want to see more of Lough Derg.

ramsey that second flower looks great, I like it. I tried to get a young sunflower like that a few days ago but missed my focus every time and unfortunately I haven't seen another just opening yet. I'm jealous...

Wasn't going to, but here's one from yesterday afternoon. Decided to post it anyway...

A dragonfly lit on my flash. Highly unusual, but I eased my finger up close and he climbed on. Lentar 135mm f2.8 and Vivitar extension tubes with flash. Taken at f16, 1/180, flash on 1/4 power.

This was not the best shot I got, but it was the coolest of the bunch.

I'm on vacation this week and I'm just getting to go through my shots from this weekend's camping trip to Wilmington,NY. A 5 minute walk from my campsite is one of the best swimming holes you will find anywhere, at the bottom of the Flume, on the Ausable River.

Thanks Pete, that is cool and unusual. Really unusual is that this happened when you actually had a rig on the camera that could catch it! Very nice!

Jeff, very nice shot of the Wabash, was that close to home? Looks like a successful stack, haven't tried that yet.

voytech, excellent cityscape, what a sky! right place right time, you nailed it!

Richard, looks like you had a great weekend. Does look like a great spot.

You could say that... It's in my basement.

My first thought was model because the train looks so perfect. but the sky is great. I thought maybe you had been out west where there were no trees at a train display. Very nice job on that one Jeff. Impressive!

Voytech, awesome sunset.
Jeff, great job with the train.
Pete, nice job with the dragonfly. I've had them land on my lens, nice that he cooperated with you.
