POTW #173 July 17, 2011 - July 31, 2011
Posted By: TOUGEFC, 07-16-2011, 05:05 PM

Welcome to edition 173 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to my-self for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from July 17 - July 31, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Went on a sound walk yesterday in Limerick for World Listening Day 2011. I was more intent on listening than looking but I did snap some shots with the K 50 f/1.2 on the Olympus E-P1.

Rolling Through

Changing weather late in the evening. Underexposed 1 stop trying to get something that will go over well at the county fair in August.

Probably one of the few sunset photos you'll ever get from me. Louisville Kentucky skyline taken from the Indiana side of the Ohio River. Taken with the DA12-24 at 24mm.

A few from me, thanks for hosting yet again tougefc

Mississippi Kite sitting on a dead tree around the corner from where I live. I watch this tree daily, no telling what might be sitting there. Wood Ducks, woodpeckers, hawks, you name it...This is a long shot, these guys won't let me get much closer than 100-150 feet. Vivitar 200mm M42 at f8.

And some macros recently too, although I can't say I can match Yeatzee, his shots are just amazing. I get some good stuff, but nothing like what he's posting this week, I'm almost tempted to quit now but not quite...lol

Mayfly last week, first one I've had a chance to shoot. Lentar 135 M42 and Vivitar extension tube set, total 58mm extension. I think this shot was with half the set. I did a couple with the full set too but it didn't get the tail. Flash at 1/4 power, f16 at 1/180.

Couple of bugs similar to Ladybugs, doing the nasty right oout in the open...dirty little things...these are about 3/8 inch long.

Same macro rig, Lentar 135 and full vivitar tube set, 58mm extension.

Damselfly taken a few days ago, same rig and settings.

And a honey bee. Not getting many this year, very few flowers blooming, I suppose due to a serious drought, so not many bees out either.

Go easy on me Yeatz, I'm just a beginner...

Cool looking Washburn. I've never played that model, don't think I've ever even seen one. Unfortunately I had to sell my Washburn BT-2, great guitar. But groceries were needed...

While my wife was getting her hair done today, I spent the time getting a few nice shots of our lovely little harbor... Sure wish we could afford the houses that have this kind of view! It was a gorgeous day and tomorrow's supposed to be just as nice - so I'm going diving with my brother!
