Welcome to edition 174 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to TOUGEFC for hosting the previous 2 editions!


This edition covers photos from July 24 - August 07, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Warped, Thanks for hosting. I think the dates should be 24 July -7 August. We seem to be having some pretty good bumper POTW threads for the last couple of weeks. Sure this is going to be the same!

The last one was a double-up with TOUGEFC hosting two in a row with the current one finishing today, so think I've got the dates right ????

POTW shifts by one week each week including unprocessed shots from the previous week.
Just look at the progression of dates in the POTW numbers 168 to 171.
I would consider the last two times as an exception to the general rule...

Haven't had a lot of time to get out lately. We're in the mist of a drought and had put a lot of perennial plant out this year. Since the plant are new, we're watering every night for at least an hour:


They have built a new high school and have started demolition of the old, this is just a block away from home, it has become somewhat of a tourest attraction:

Have has a very busy week, so not much chance of some shots-mundane ones mostly, readily available subjects.

Ball Python-my son's pet.


This insect crawls/skids on the surface of water, not much bigger than a mosquito, but long legs. Playing with macro. Dirty pool water.

Early in the week and already some cool pics

One of mine from last week that was processed tonight and one from Sunday and a family birthday celebration.

I been shooting a lot but have had little time to go through my shots and post anything. On Friday, I attended a 1 day landscape photography workshop at the Adirondack Folk School, taught by Carl Heilman. It was probably the most horrible weather you would want for an event like this. At one point in the day, 2 inches of rain fell in 1/2 hour. We finally got outside very late in the day and it was still on/off rain but there were some really great photo ops as the skies began clearing. As you would expect, I was the only Pentax shooter there. My DA 10-17 fisheye attracted some interest.
