POTW #175 July 31, 2011 - Aug 13, 2011
Posted By: MaryAD, 08-07-2011, 11:54 AM

Welcome to edition 175 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to Warped for hosting the previous edition!

This edition covers photos from July 31 - Aug 13, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Steve
If there was ever a car that demanded the driver wear a panama hat, a Convertible Edsel would be the one. Nice photos.

A spare from Single In August and my post processing experiments.

Very cool! I am not usually fond of HDR, but this one works extremely well. Good work!

Thanks for hosting Mary - off to a stunning start I must say, Not much from me so far this week - a quick walk this afternoon ..

Our favorite insect this summer as the mosquito population was just otta control.

A couple of pond algae shots looks like you could almost walk on it.

Thanks for hosting Mary.

I've actually started a new 52-week project at the beginning of August on my website.

Week 1: Ambient Light

Week 2: Fill the Frame

Mary, thanks again for hosting,

Steve, the Edsel shot is very nice, hard to get a creative car show shot since there have been so many billions taken!

Cool shot Jeff, I think we're slowing seeing your whole setup, very nice!

Dave, goold shots of the dragon flies, or are they damselflies? Don't swim in that pond!

Matt, these are nice, I did a quick look at the website, looking forward to going back with a little more time, good stuff!

We have finally got a little rain, and I found out that cattle are at the end of the rainbow:

Ditching Equipment and plastic tile:

The rails, the wires, and the asphalt all go side by side to the next town:

Nice to see the world in one thread ...

Tom - love the Bird in the first series.

Rob - love wide angle - that boy in the water is a great shot.

Tougefc - Sun Rays are one my favorite well captured.

John - very serine shot.

Jeff - great train series - was that steam photoshopped ? Well done.

xjjohonno - great colors on the flowers.

noelcmn - nice captures of some exotic birds.

Richard - love the softball shots - our season just ended lost 2 in a row in the playoffs - love the game and I hear ya on the fans.

amitbhati - a lifetime ago I lived in Montreal don't remember the subway being that colorfu well done.

warped - cool shots - love the mermaid tail that should make for some interesting shots for sure.

Joe - wow love that first shot - has a doomsday effect I think.

David - what an interesting sculpture in that first one.

Steve - I like them all but #1 is my favorite.

Jeff - another great 'trainscape'

9littlebees - nice shots sounds like an interesting project.

Tom - thanks for the comments. I thibk they are dragon flies but not 100% sure. I love the 1st and last one. Whenever I see a rainbow all I can thibk of is that YouTube Double rainbow short - priceless.

Venturi - Wow great captures.

I am still impressed with the K5 meetering and White Balance. This camera has made it so much more fun. Can now start PP for effect as opposed to correction a lot of the times. Another tool I am playing with is Topaz Denoise I like it.

A few with Sigma 105 a tack sharp lens for sure.

ISO 3200 , Shot in DNG passed through Denoise with the RAW - Light template

Colors out of the K5 pop - a few adjustments in LR

The above were taken in my backyard and here is my audience (Neighbor’s dogs)

Stay tuned, Dave.. My train shots this (and last) month are products of many photos blended in photoshop (the trains are all models however).

Hey, everybody! No problem, I wish I had some photos to share too for this thread but there hasn't been anything interesting worth photographing lately..oh well
This thread is ending soon though and we need a new host to volunteer. However, I'm very confused about the hosting period of the next thread. I was looking at the previous ones and I can't figure out the order because some dates are overlapping like this one and some aren't... So now I'm really confused lol and could someone please enlight me in a PM?

Typically the hosting period is 1 week, from Sunday to Sunday. The posting invite is 2 weeks, the current week, and the prior week.
