POTW #181 Sept. 11, 2011-Sept 25, 2011
Posted By: lukulele, 09-18-2011, 11:36 AM

Welcome to edition 181 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Lukulele will again welcome your photos from around the globe.

This edition covers photos from Sept. 11 to Sept 25, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

David -- looks like she's winding up for a throw -- you're a bold man to put your K-7 that close to the line of fire.

Another super set, xjjohnno. Congrats on the firetail finch -- what a striking bird.

She loves eating so much, there is no need to worry that she's going to throw with food. She might drop some but not intentionally throw. Besides, I always wondered how good WR really is ;-)

Today I joined the rest of you dinosaurs who shoot with classic Pentax glass. Meet my new (to me) SMC Pentax 1:2.8 24mm. So far I find it to be an excellent wildlife lens, at least for very large, slow moving wildlife.

Tabaluga

Our k-8 German immersion classes entertained the school( a cast of hundreds, or seemed like it) with Tabaluga. Worker ants, sea life, creatures in black suits, giant claws etc. Tabaluga under the overhead spot as it begins to fade.

Robin: art is hard work.

Rense: I liked the abstract you posted on "Share your photos", and I think they work even better as a set.

Joe: looks like the air's getting a bit nippy up there. Nice captures of the clear light, and sense of space in #2.

Iris: -- it's nice when the birds come to you.

Edward: nice set; I love "max cap"!

lukulele: anyone we know under there?

noelcmn: thanks! Here are a couple more from my K 24mm walkaround:

Baro-nite,
B&W clouds are stunning. If you can ever find the 1947 Mexican version of Steinbeck's "The Pearl" dubbed in English, the cloud backgrounds on location are amazing. I drive my 8th graders bonkers with B&W film from the 20's to the 60's. By the end of the year most come to realize the complexity, texture, and symbolism that reigns in B&W. Of course, hammering them with Lewis Hine and Dorothea Lange helps. Durham?

Thanks! Didn't even have a CPL on for this one; straightforward RAW development with a single tone curve.

Yes, 300 W. Morgan. Not a great piece of architecture; at street level it's mainly a parking deck. But fun for photos re reflections and shapes.
