POTW #184 2 Oct 2011 - 16 Oct 2011
Posted By: lukulele, 10-09-2011, 11:06 AM

Welcome to edition 184 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Lukulele again welcomes your photos from around the globe!

This edition covers photos from 2 Oct 11 to 16 Oct 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Baro-nite where was the log structure and tree?
Davidson County, a stone's throw from hwy 52, near Midway. (Street View.) Very close to where John shot this one.

SpecialK: two shots with a nice SoCal vibe.

Joe: beautiful! Nice B/W conversion for an almost IR look.

Bruce: birds in flight! Takes me back to younger days, ah me...

Some downtown shots of Fresno, Ca... I have family up there.. so decided to start going to downtown and just photograph the street landscape... its a pretty sad scene... Here are some that I shot while I was in the area... Plan to do a whole photo set of downtown in the near future...

Hotel Fresno

Every business on this street seemed to have a closed or out of business sign...

All the dark skies and rain slowed up the fall foliage this year but the few days of Indian summer and sunny skies and the foliage is finally beginning to look like fall and will likely reach it's peak in the southern Adirondacks this weekend. A couple of snapshots I fired off during some before work errands today. In my home of Corinth, NY along the upper Hudson.

I got a photo of another rare visitor with my new K5 along with my DA 55-300 lens, an Oriental Turtle-Dove. The other was a Chinese Pond-heron earlier this summer. So far the smaller rare birds have been evading me.

A fine shot it is! All I've seen lately are Jays and crows.

We were able to get tickets to the 9/11 Memorial last Sunday. It was very moving.....

And directly across the street we encountered the Occupy Wall Street crowd...

Wow, the Superb Fairy-wren! I don't know if those are uncommon or not, but I didn't see any on my trip to Victoria/NSW a few years back.

I had an epic photo weekend in Taipei. Bridges, waterfalls (not even processed or uploaded), Chinese architecture, skyscrapers and a poi fire performance. more photos available on my blog or flickr

Taipei 101 (A50/1.7)

DaZhi (Lover's) Bridge (A50/1.7)

Guangdu Bridge (A50/1.7)

The National Theater at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (A50/1.7)

The Grand Hotel (A50/1.7)

A nearly private poi fire performance that I stumbled upon completely by accident. (K24/2.8)
