POTW #184 2 Oct 2011 - 16 Oct 2011
Posted By: lukulele, 10-09-2011, 11:06 AM

Welcome to edition 184 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Lukulele again welcomes your photos from around the globe!

This edition covers photos from 2 Oct 11 to 16 Oct 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Wife and I were out walking the dogs yesterday and I had the camera with me. K-m/K-2000 with FA 28-105mm 1:4-5.6 lens. (ISO-100, 28mm, f/6.3, 1/500) HDR processing with Photomatix Pro 4.0.2.

This is a property just across the road from our family business, needed approx. 100,000 yards of fill to bring things above flood plain at the business. Buying this property and only paying to have it hauled 'across the road' was a winning deal. The new pond is only about 200 yards from a fairly large river in the area, so there is a good 'ground flow' through the pond.

After the fill was removed and the pond was made, the property was donated to Fish Wildlife & Parks. It is stocked with fish and was turned into a fishing pond. Though open to all, it is primarily for youth and handicapped. (You can just see the pavilion on the far left side of the pond where the handicap access dock is located).

This is one of the few locations in Montana that has had an alligator removed from the waters.... apparently someone had it as a pet and decided it was too large for their home. No one knows for sure, but it made for an interesting headline for a local Montana newspaper.

Baronite, the fairy wrens are fairly common. They favour areas with low lying scrub especially coastal scrublands. They've even moved into the local park where there are some garden beds of their favoutite habitat.

A couple more from my hiking trip last weekend. It was almost dark by the time I made it back to my truck. The parking lot is in a heavily forested area but as I headed up the road towards the highway, I began getting glimpses of a spectacular sunset through openings in the trees. The light was fading fast but I was able to finally find a place to pull over, set up my tripod and get off a few shots. The 18-55 kit was on the camera and time was short so that's what I shot with. With more time, it would have made a great pano. Taken just southeast of Lake Placid.

Love the variety as always, gang! Good stuff!

I FINALLY made it to my younger boys' flag football games this past week. Frankly, I was rooting too hard to take many pictures! But I did manage to take a few shots.

That's my boy making that "tackle"

He's thinking, "Man, we stunk it up today!" I know. I asked him.

This kid was way too distracted by his hair to play much football:

...and in action:

Some pics from our Occupy Melbourne, a supportive action of Occupy Wall Street, but slightly less attended and looking very relaxed.
