POTW #187 23 October - 6 November 2011
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 10-30-2011, 04:01 PM

Welcome to edition 187 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Thanks to pentaximus for hosting the previous week. Very sorry for the delayed start, I was out of town, pretty much out of contact and the person I had asked to host could not. I will just go ahead and host again rather that find someone this late.

This edition covers photos from 23 Oct 2011 - 6 November 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Thanks for hosting and doubling up Tom. Hiking on the Carolina Thread Trail under the upgraded P&N trestle and I-85 this afternoon. Three ball in the rail bed debris 1/4 mile up the line.

A walk in the woods: I just liked how the tree at the end was still hanging onto its leaves. This was taken at Fort Whyte Alive a local nature reserve.

I must have a thing for leaves as I love the red and green leaves posted by StDevious.

Thanks for hosting Tom. Some nice shots already.
Lou - Great shot of the rusty bridge
StDevious - the Harper's views bring back memories. I used to live in Frederick, MD
BigTed - Nice peaceful setting and great lines leading thru the shot.

You've heard of the saying "saving face," well, how about...

Losing Face

SMC Pentax-M 1:1.7 50mm w/13mm tube @ f/22

Judging from the water spots, it's time to clean the walls of the tank methinks.

That's an awesome shot btw.

I haven't been around DMV or surrounding area much for shooting. I found Harper's Ferry on google by chance this morning 6 AM, when Shenandoah Park trip was cancelled at last moment due to skyline drive closure due to rain. Any recommendations for places to get great pictures at ?

Nice collection, Great shots of the leaves. I've been close to Harper's Ferry, but never there. As a history buff I've got to get there sometime.

Something you don't see often, even if it is in an aquarium. Nice catch through glass!

That parade looks like a lot of fun, I love that kind of pagentry that is generally forgotten. Very nice series, thanks for showing these.

I spent Saturday watching the rowers at the Head of the Fish Regatta at Fish Creek in Saratoga. It was cold and the snowstorm moved in late in the day. The races continued. I was freezing and had a difficult time manual focusing the M300/4 with the 2x converter but did get a few shots. I was hand holding the beast as I was getting better results than with the monopod for whatever reason. I think I was shivering more and being on my feet and moving around got my blood pumping a little. All wide open, f8 with the converter, and ISO 1600. It was very overcast and dark, even at mid-day.

Nice shots for those tough conditions, I feel cold looking at them. The first person in the last shot has the look of "Look at that idiot with the camera, freezing his a*** off!
