POTW #193: 4 Dec 2011 - 18 Dec 2011

Welcome to edition 193 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Special thanks to PENTAXIMUS for hosting the previous week and inviting me to host this week.

This edition covers photos from 4 December - 18 December 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Hi Pentaxians, and welcome to this weeks POTW. My pleasure to host this week as it is my favorite thread. Thanks to Pentaximus for hosting last weeks POTW. Lets see if we can make it a bumper week. I'll start with this one from last week. Horse at the base of Mine dumps.

Been raining most of the weekend, so you've got to be creative with some indoor stuff. Like Bubbles

And this Bull's eye- kids battery powered two blade fancy fan

Then decided for Saturday night, I would visit a local gambling den (not that I gamble) but they had advertised a "garden of lights" and thought I would go and check it out. It called Emperors Palace. This is a pic of hte emperor.

Emperor's new clothes

Santa simply has to be there

Here is the emperor is a more dignified expectation

And one more-for good measure. Cannot understand the logic of this light figure. Christmas is a season of goodwill. The Garden of Lights is for children especially. Then they go and have a canon boom boom (may that should read Canon boom boom)

OK, so I've posted 7-I'm generous, especially to myself. And shall be to other Pentaxians too

Noel, thanks for hosting and getting us off to a great start. I really like the horse, and the humor of the emperor's clothing.

Kyle, nice series, I like #1 the best, and strangely #3 also.

Lukulele, they look comfortable and happy, nice candid.

This is a repeat, I posted in color last week, tsakatsaka suggested it may look good in black and white:

Great shots so far-keep them coming.
Ramseybuckey-I am reminded of Little Red Riding Hood-Granma-what long legs you have!
Derelict, I like that shot of the guy with his suitcase, going nowhere.
SpecialK-great harbour shot-reminds me of when I was little-we lived close to a harbour-easy walking distance.

The Nutcracker

Great start this week, everybody! Thanks again for hosting, Noel.

Dwight Yoakam last week, The Nutcracker this week. I was attending the Covington Regional Ballet's production and planned to take a few photos. Upon arrival I was recruited by a friend to take pictures of her husband and daughter, who were both in the show. So, a little more "pressure" than I planned for the evening, but fun nonetheless. (EDIT: I've added a few more photos to the Flickr set for those who'd like to take a look.)

A few from this evening in an old mill town, Mcadenville, NC, famous for its Christmas light displays.
Ambulance across the new bridge and lake lights and fountain.

noelcmn, thanks for hosting this week. Always nice to check in for views from around the world. I had a trip last week and had quite a lot of time with the camera. Still sorting and processing, but I have finished a set of shots taken while airborne; here are a couple, both taken with the M50 f/1.7:

Very nice, baro-nite. Looks like Rock Springs, WY has grown a bit since I spent a night there in 1973

A few more

Classes have finished for Christmas so Ive had some walk around time (and the weather is being uncharacteristically nice instead of English typical) before I get on a plane to head home.

Loved the reflection of this.

Thanks. Chose university here over London and am damn happy with the choice. Its such a cool city. Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and a good amount of it is still around. So many buildings around here with 18xx cast into them. Jaw dropping and they realize it too. A lot of the old factories and cotton mills are being gutted and retrofitted for housing. I respect their holding on to history. I live in DC normally so Ive got great buildings here and great buildings there.
