Picture of the week #201 29 January to 11 Feb. 2012

POTW # 201 ! 29 January - 11 Feb 2012
Welcome to edition #201 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Special thanks to Peter for hosting the previous week and inviting me to host the 201st edition of this series.

This edition covers photos from 29 January - 11 Feb 2012. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Wolfiegirl-that last pic is very neat, very interesting too. So different, and yet, one can recognise some familiar things there. I like too. And seeing I do not have Photoshop (only lightroom) I can't duplicate-the idea anyway.
i just love that it was a 'real photo' and now it's like a cartoon/graphic image if that makes sense. and like you say, you can still recognise familiar things. so it's not really abstract at all.

do you only have lightroom nolecmn? I wonder if you can do something similar with some of the other arty programs out there? paint.net might have those two options?

Those flower shots are super sharp bluestringer!
Here are a few shots from Sunday including what remains of a flower from last summer which still has a little purple clinging to it.

I needed to get out of the (home) office for some light relief, so I went for a walk around the neighbourhood with a camera and just pointed it at things that took my fancy and pressed the button. K5 - FA77 - manual exposure. No PP except for output sharpening. Well, that was my aim I needed to lighten the darks on a couple of shots. Manual is easy, bit it needs a bit of learning

This is the edge of a mini-park close to home It has no name. The rest of the park was full of mothers and children and that's not a good place to take photos these days .

10 minutes later there's another park (Lynden Park, Camberwell, VIC) . This one has a few footy/cricket ovals and lots of dog walkers during the week.

This house is around 200 metres from Lynden Park in Highfield Road. I wanted to buy it but the $$ were a bit too high. And it needed a big reno. It's looking good now.

At the end of Highfield Road you arrive at Toorak Rd. There used to be a BP station here.

[pause for 45 minutes when nothing took my fancy.]

Finally getting close to home. This is Toorak Rd again.

And, after a long walk, almost home.

Richard.

Thanks, WG.

Actually, to be totally truthfull, there were a few distractions along the way, and I've got a car picture to post. But I didn't take any shots in that area. It's mostly brick-veneers, but there are a few interesting houses. I didn't get around to taking any shots of them. Then there are the many young Asian girls attending the tech turned uni a few Ks down the road. I have come to the conclusion that their fashion sense is the most wonderfull thing to have happened in Camberwell since ... um ... since forever. But I don't want to be accused of being a dirty old man

Richard, check out some Reg Mombasa pics of the urbs, he paints but a camera can pull off the same results.
As for pretty young Asian women, very pleasant as are most healthy young women in summer.

Say no more. OK. I won't tell if you don't tell. But I think the secret might be out now. Eh.

Here's a car - an old Austin.

So much light, colour and sun. I dislike you all immensely. We had sun here once. Its got to the stage that i don't think its coming back. sky is grey. any way great photos everyone. something almost surreal about the old Austin . Like it should be driven by Noddy (not sure if you guys know Noddy)
