Picture of the week #202 05 February to 18 Feb. 2012

POTW # 202 ! 05 February - 18 Feb 2012
Welcome to edition #202 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Special thanks to bluestringer for hosting the previous week and inviting me to host the 202nd edition of this series.

This edition covers photos from 05 February - 18 Feb 2012. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Some great photos this week. I've been under the weather, and have not been out much. Took this one today after noticing my plum tree is starting to bloom, and the flies are enjoying it..........

I was visiting the lakeside park at Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee, Florida today. The bottlebrush plants were in bloom which was noted by a large number of bees who were also visiting the plants.

sounds like a plan last time we went down we had dinner at a greek restaurant on the corner of an alleyway and a main street. and there was this band complete with a cello playing just off to the side. very cool. we actually stayed at the raddisson (least I think that's what it's called), which is the hotel next to the markets that you frequent every saturday

here's a few from yesterday morning. wolfieboy stopped for a coffee at the bakery which was next door to an asian grocery store. i just stayed in the car and used my zoooooom... (and yes I know the last one's a bit OOF but they're so blingy I couldn't resist showing)

That name sounds very familiar. I'd say you're right and it was Hardware Lane

Solarized Canada Geese

I had fun tweaking the original image with the solarization filter of Nik Software's Color Efex Pro 4.0 (which I plug into Photoshop Elements 10 for Mac). The original image was made with a K100D using with a very inexpensive Sakar 500mm lens, bought used long ago. 1/1000 at ISO 800.

Some work was done in Apple's iPhoto.

Comments, criticism and preference of either version are welcome.

I think this is my first post in this thread.

Thanks to all who post here, and best wishes.

taking nice pics of BIF is an aspiration of mine but I'm never in the right place with the right lens. I like the detail you've highlighted, but I'm not sure about the purple edging. I know you're being artistic and its a deliberate effect, but from my past issues with PF it's slightly jarring for me personally. But I'm sure everyone else's mileage will vary

Cool shots again this week people! I managed to stumble upon a protest for Congo on Thursday outside the US embassy and just happened to have my K-7 in my bag and my K1000 around my neck.

Once I ran out of film I went over to the K-7.

They looked ready for about anything.

A few pics before the week is out. A street bench - love that the book in the window beside the bench is titled "Anxiety Free", backlit traffic lights, and waiting at the bus stop.
