Picture of the week #203 12 February to 26 Feb. 2012

POTW # 203! 12 February - 26 Feb 2012
Welcome to edition #203 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Special thanks to cif for hosting the previous week and inviting me to host the 203rd edition of this series.

This edition covers photos from 12 February - 26 Feb 2012. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Thanks Jacquot

Yeah the building on the inside was pretty cool. From the outside you couldn't tell there was this cool wood panelled atrium hidden away in there

YIKES! glad to know the camera made it!! love the spray all caught in mid air like that!

Not much from me atm. Just driving to and from work and general documenting of life.

Here's on the way home last night:

And then last night, got around to do a spot of gardening. Managed to get some free besser blocks and capping stones. There wasn't enough blocks to go around, but I managed to be a bit creative and turned the caps into paving stones. I now have a little porch area at my front door. Looks so much better than the rocky soil covered in weeds that I had there before.

I didn't lay a base down or anything. Just cleared the mulch I had put down earlier and lay these down. Next stop is to get a nice door mat instead of that yucky rubber thing that's there (left from the previous owners).

You can see the paving near the door itself are actually small red bricks - again from the previous owners. I didn't have enough pavers to move these, and like me, they'd simply put the bricks in as is, no sand or concrete or other fancy paving work. Maybe if I can get around to trawling nurseries for the right kind of besser bricks and caps I can go and replace it all. But for now I'm simply glad that I don't have to put shoes on every time I want to step outside.

In case you're curious, the greenery are Jerusaleum Artichoke stems. Once they flower and die off, I will have a TRUCKLOAD of tubers. Guess it makes up for the fact that potatoes hate me..

All taken on the k100d, sigma 18-200 megazoom. click on images for exif data

Thanks for hosting Rollsup. Unfortunately my camera is in for a service, and though I hope to have it back by the weekend (in which case I will try to contribute some more images) it is unlikely I will get it back before next week. In the meantime, I have these.
We have had our usual breathtaking sunsets, and as with last weeks POTW-these are taken from my yard.

And also discovered my neighbours Pumpkin vine is overflowing into our yard, with some young pumpkins. Caught betwix "should I sue him for tresspassing, or silently harvest when the time is ripe" A promising youndster!

Have a great week and weekend-seeing I don't expect to be here much.

Thanks for hosting, Rollsup. Unlike Noel, we have had no sun, so no sunsets! Here are a few plant shots from last week and this week - a silhouetted branch, a tulip, heather, and some buds.

Grackles often find a meal of ticks and fleas in the manes of wild horses.

"wild" being a relative term. Some of these horses have become so accustomed to photog people that they'll follow you around in hopes of getting a carrot or 12. (Horse slobber on the lens is a real hazard.)

This old stallion bears lots of scars from protecting his harem

A trip to the animal sanctuary.

And the age old question remains, "Why did the marmot cross the road?"

cif, it looks like your snow has melted.
wolfiegirl, I love that 3rd stop - the converging lines of the trees, fence, road and rainbow!

A couple of shots from both weeks.
An eagle taking off, and startling the pigeons, and a window and a door. Apologies on the bird shots - old Soligor manual 400, but I forgot the tripod attachment.
