POTW #211, 14 April through 28 April 2012
Posted By: SpecialK, 04-22-2012, 03:11 PM

Welcome to edition #211 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Thanks to Oldschool for hosting edition #210.

This edition covers photos from 14 April - 28 April 2012. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time. So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

No theme, just post your favorite pix.
Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's Film, P&S, Mirrorless, or DSLR.
Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

SpecialK's note: I've left off the links to previous POTW's as a) it's getting a bit long, b) the links weren't active on the last thread, c) I had no way to quote Oldschool to get the HTML, and d) you know where to find the old threads.

Tube Amp Progress Report

For what this looked like when I started, see here: RCA 4V-F464 Restoration

Some of the latest work I've done to it:

Hammercoat Mockup (I'll probably go with gold tone as on test strip)

New caps and resistors, (not done yet), 2 new sockets and test fit of connectors.

A little slow this week...

jheu02 - I'm guessing parts are harder to come by for the older technology?

ramseybuckeye - nice tractor shot. I don't see much of those in my neighborhood.

lululele - nice sports shots. I remember in 5th grade when a kid from Guatemala taught us to play soccer.

I love John's restoration project. I looked at the whole set on Flickr. That thing was preserved in cobwebs when he got it!

I can add a few more, if you can stand more butterfly shots! (x-posted from Insects thread)

It's getting crowded at our blooming bushes (all crops):

Welcome to POTW, Xandr! Nice couple of shots. Kids and food are two of my favorite subjects. Thanks for checking in from Moldova, and don't be a stranger!

paulh - that first one is particularly nice with one profile and one (almost) flat. There is a "bug fair" in a few weeks I'm planning on attending with my Tammy macro.

ruggiex - Nice warm tones in that shot which has captured some of the feel of the music that must have been played on that keyboard.

Xandr - nice shot of (I'm gueesing) your boy. That highlight on his ear is sort of unfortunate, but with candids you can't control everything ;-) Oh, I need to start lunch...

It's been kind of a dreary week, not much camera time.
Took this one while walking the dogs this morning, before the rain came, this is our local high school, not a year old yet:

For the amplifier portion, there are no problems getting parts. It seems harder to get older transistors than tube amp parts. If there's an issue with the Tuner/Preamp I may have some issues, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

In Michigan

The carnival image was solarized with software. A version of that image but without solarization is posted in the Weekly Challenge thread of wide-angle photos. It was captured with a Polaroid Studio Series .43X High Definition Wide-Angle Lens screwed on a Pentax 18-55mm lens at 18mm. The Polaroid was bought via the Marketplace at Pentaxforums.com. I think a similar Polaroid lens is available new from retail vendors.

ramseybuckeye - the lines and arrows really make the composition.

Edward - classics never die.

smf - nice abstract on #1.

Thanks for playing. The new thread is here.
