Project 52 - 4 - 32 Shutter Speed - Slow
Posted By: photolady95, 05-06-2012, 03:28 PM

Theme for this week. Shutter Speed - Slow

Time Frame: pictures for Week 32 are to be taken between May 6 through May 13, 2012.

PROJECT 52 - 4

Following are the Rules and Weekly Projects for year 4. Thanks goes to Dan (DanLoc78) for getting this going, and to Rob (Mithrandir) for hosting year 3.

Rules :
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible. The goal continues to be
to have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-4 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
6. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
7. Any picture taken within the period of P52-4 is acceptable for the two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52!1

Hey all, I am going away for a week and won't be able to judge this competition. As second place holder, I have sent a private message to Lou (lukelele) hoping he will do the honour of judging.

I leave in a couple of hours, and have not heard back from him yet.

If it is a problem for Lou I am hoping Photolady can organize a judge.

Thanks, and have a great week shooting!!!!!

If Lou doesn't get back to you before you leave, I'll find someone to judge it. I can't.

Slow and fast are relative, for a flying bird (Yellow Warbler), 1/100 at 300MM is slow:

Taken at 24second long exposure in pitch black light with the only illumination I couldn't control being the damn EXIT sign behind it (in hindsight I should've covered it with cardboard or something). The illumination I did control was myself running around with my flash

Thanks for stepping in, Joe.

Tom, that bird shot (goldfinch?) is like many of mine lately. Vylen, I have to ask, what IS it? (Cool, whatever it is!)

Mine for this week is...

Whitewater 1/20s, handheld

I'll let people figure it out - more fun that way But, I'm sure there's a few around here who definitely know what it is.

Yellow Warbler, yep it's accidental, but I kind of like it. Nice whitewater!

Cool shot Vylen! I have never seen such a good result from pitch black like this...

My first thought was it looks kind of like the meth lab set from the show Breaking Bad (love that show)... I have no idea what it really is though...

6 degree of freedom simulator, likely for some form of aircraft. I've only been on ship bridge simulators.

I'm going to squeak in an entry for this week. Took this Thursday night and required a fair amount of PP to bring out the shot. Used lightroom to essentially create a reverse graduated filter effect centered on the lights across the lake.

I will let this run until midnight PDT and can assure you I won't get to judging until after work tomorrow so there is still time to squeeze a few more entries in here!
