#207 - Stop Action
Posted By: RXrenesis8, 05-29-2012, 10:34 AM

AKA: Freeze Frame, Stop Action utilizes high shutter speeds, fast flashes, or other trickery (suspending things on wires, etc) to effectively stop all motion in a frame. This allows you to scrutinize actions that without a photo would have passed in the blink of an eye. Please present your most striking moment stopped in time for this contest!

New participants are more than welcome to join in, by the way. The more the better. Make my job difficult!

This challenge is now open, and closes at 1500 GMT on the 5th of June.
Good luck, and have fun!
-Mitch

The fine print....
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread. If it's no obvious, explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge closes after 7 days, then allows for a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera will do.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, the winner will PM the #2 winner and pass the baton to that person to be the judge.

I usually get some nice street rod shots during the York show but some other commitments kept me from getting out during prime time this year.

The balloon was done at night with flash and a sound delay trigger and a pellet gun:
1. Set the shutter speed at 2 s, trigger the flash and set aperature for proper exposure.
2. Set 10s self timer on camera and some arbitrary delay on the flash trigger
3. Push the shutter release, calmly walk back to firing position, take aim, wait for the shutter to open, and fire (don't shoot the camera or flash gun ).
4. You may get a picture of an intact balloon, empty space, or a partially burst balloon. Adjust trigger delay to suit.
5. Repeat step 3 and 4 until you get what you're looking for.

My apologies for the delay. I sat down in my favorite chair after work and then suddenly it was today! Maybe I should think about getting more sleep...

Winners thread is up
