#218 POTW - 10 June 2012 - 17 June , 2012Report | Like this PostPosted By: Xandr, 06-03-12, 01:40 PM (Offline)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Picture of the Week #218. Thanks to Xandr for hosting last week. Let's see plenty of great postings over the next week.

This week covers 3rd June to 17 June, 2012.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

The church shots are excellent. Tri-x brings back memories. It's been years since I shot a roll.
Thanks! I've decided film is good for my soul and I'm starting to shoot more of it. Yep, I'm even getting a little bit of a medium format film bug. I wonder if there's something I can take for that???

There are some really top-notch shots coming in this week! And from handles I'm not all that familiar with, too. I think POTW welcomes are due to ajaya, cabstar, caravan, and sergiu. WELCOME ALL!

Yebo yes, I agree with that sentiment there Pentaximus. Welcome Ajaya, Caravan and Sergiu.

Ramseybuckeye, Beautiful butterfly and Squirrel.
Reeftool, Now I don;t like motorbikes, (I am also in the Medical Equipment business, and get to deal with a lot of motor bike accident victims-at one stage here there was an amutation a day at the local hospital just for motor bike accidents) but I do like these images, crisp and lovely angles. You've captured the sense of "rally" very well.
Pentaximus, thanks for your kind comments- +1 on the comments from Reftool. Those church images are fab. And that cat does not look too comfortable. That's your son?- he looks like you (that is if that is you in your avatar?) Nice moment and memory captured. He looks almost embarrased that he's been caught out with the cat.
Old School, very interesting. I may just try to get there if I come to NY in December. It looks like a very popular park. And looks like some people are trying to peep into the buildings.
Warped, love how you get that light to work on your model Is that a fridge-that orange thing? I have a fridge just like that, an ancient thing, except mine is white, but I'll remember it looks better orange.
Lukulele, I prefer "hello Noel" that way I get to have more unknown fans. I like that bus shot. Are those from one school? Good heavens! And just love that flower and railway line shot. Very cool, well spotted. My title for it "Survivor".
SpecialK, thanks for your kind comments. Those doggy shots have taken me back a few years, while at college, I watched a program of dogs and frisbees-I was enthralled (well anything to get the mind of studying) so in a way I am glad that the sport?? has not died. Those dogs were fantastic at catching frisbees, and it seems so are the ones in your pics- the last one at any rate. The first one looks like it has a mind of its own. I'm sure i've seen that 3rd pic on the web somewhere-I wondered what it was- Now I can see d'em ducks. Cool shot which requires more than one looks.
Ajaya, welcome to POTW and what a fine selection you have chosen to introduce yourself with here. Hope we see more of you here.
Jmshrei- always look forward to you contributions-you have interesting perspectives and this image no less so. Enjoy you sun! we've had some cold miserable windy days over the weekend, and the weatherman says more of the same on the way.
Ruggiex, when i saw your image, I immediately went "how did he do that". Wonderful colouration to match the title. Laziness i hope is going on holiday and we'll see some more of your shots.
Cabstar, wonderful event photography, which is about the only photography I do for other people, I hate it, and still feel I must master it. Great opening shot.
Caravan, welcome and thanks for posting those. I am somewhat awed at those, they are very nice for plastic. Thanks for bursting my bubble about lenses- I always thought they should be glass! Hope we see more of you here too!
Sergiu, welcome to POTW, and like Ajaya, you have started with a very fine selection. Macro, my favourite medium, so I've relished looking at these. That first one is stunning.

Let's see some more Pentaxians!

Thanks for the nice welcome! Yes, I have way more fun that I thought I would with these plastic toy lenses. It forces me to be more concentrated when taking the shot.

Rose

I have had this particular rose bush for several years; this is the first time it has produced blooms that actually open - until now the flowers have died before they got a chance to show off.

Thanks for hosting Noel - and awesome collection of shots so far

I got out the old 18-55 kit lens & pointed it at our Cannas after a rainshower last week: (x-posted from Our Gardens Revealed thread)

Yep - it's a big old heavy fridge, a Kelvinator, looks great in bright Orange

Our old fridge at home was painted bright purple and looked good too, old fridges just seem to look good in bright colours.

Family pressured me to get family outing photos done from this past weekend so I guess I have a few more 'photography' photos to post!

First outing with the 15mm Ltd. It's not exactly a great picture with such harsh lighting but I just love the FOV!

Great Falls, R/C planes & a pretty waitress

I tried out my new Sigma 10-20mm at Great Falls last Saturday. Note the kayaker in the 1st attempting to run the rapids upstream.

Then headed to an R/C plane club's open house. Those little planes move fast and are not easy to capture!

Finally, a pretty lady that waited on us at an icebreaker yesterday evening. Tough lighting in the restaurant where she works.

Wow, what a wonderful selection we are having for this POTW. Keep it up Pentaxians.
Robert (RM Barker) lovely stuff- I am envious- as we are now only entering teh pruning stages for roses. Love that colour.
Paulh, stunning collection from you as usual.
Audiobomber-wonderful stuff. I like that bird chicks shot. They look somewhat perturbed. Looks like you enjoyed your weekend.
Ruggiex, you've got a good family there, they obviously know about your talent. That train shot is amazing, I like it.
Xjjohnno, been wondering where you are? As with Ruggiex, your train shot is amazing. Lovely pano.
Lex Madera, Wow, incredible shots of that kayaker, especially that first one. He/she is dwarfed by those rapids. I like the composition. And as for the Aeroplanes, great moments captured so well.
Lets see some more from our Pentax world.

noelcmn, thanks! that's a lot of flattering. I don't even think I have reached the adolescent stage of my photography life yet Still learning so much everyday, taking one baby step at a time... And most of time I feel the good ones are 'lucky shots' as opposed to 'planned shots'

Anyhow, looks like I may run out of things to post for the next week but what the heck... Just started to learn how to shoot people (or I should say incorporate people into photos) more and I think I like how this one turned out.
