POTW #219 - 10 June 2012-24 June 2012 Report

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the Picture of the Week #219. Thanks to Noelcmn ()for hosting last week. Let's see plenty of great postings over the next week.

This week covers 10th June to 24th June, 2012.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Wow, some cracking insect macros this week! And many thanks for hosting the topic. These are a few of mine. The first two are with my K5 and DA 15mm, the next four are with my new K-01 and macro lenses. Mostly I'm using focus-peaking and manual on the K-01, it's a lot of fun.

Congratulations on the K-5 Noel! I am sure you will enjoy it. I got mine in March and although I kept my K20 thinking I would use it as a spare on longer outings I have hardly touched it. I imagine that if I was to take the time to actually read through the manual I would be able to make even better use of the new camera's features but I am loving it all the same.

mecrox - that second shot is just great.. I love it. That building looks almost evil.

noelcnm - What a compliment, thanks. No pheromones, just patience. Dragonflies tend to come back to the same spot and perch, so I just wait. That one happened to land right in front of me, so I scooted forward about a foot and waited. Sure enough, he came back. It took a couple of tries, but he let me lean in close before long. I've gotten them to sit on my finger a couple of times. Butterflies too. I guess you just have to be still and move slow.

I Haven't been around much recently, not a lot of time and I have to sit outside the local library to get a signal. It's freezing inside or I'd go in there. I have to wear long pants and a jacket to sit inside, so I come here in the evening for a bit. For a week or two I didn't have much time, and when I'm on a tough outside job, I go home and flop. That will be next week, have 300 feet of fence to build...not looking forward to that o you won't see me much until that's done...

Anyway, I'm glad to have a chance to lurk around and post a few shots again.

Very nice damsel and dragonflies. I've read so much negative about the 18-135, looks pretty good to me.

Thanks Tom. I seem to always be defending the 18-135. I like mine a lot, as do most owners, but I know a few people had bad copies. Unfortunately one of them was Klaus at Photozone. The second milkweed shot was at 135mm and f/6.7, where the lens should be horrible according to PZ. I find the bokeh exceptionally good for a consumer zoom.
