Mar, some members of my congregation have Avocado trees in their yards, and I guess I'd be able to pick some there, accept they tell me their neighbours have raided their tree, so that takes care of that idea Some friends of mine also stay (as tenants) in places where there are Avocado trees, but have not had chance to see them of late. I usually buy mine as part of my weekend shopping.
I thought Avo's are winter fruits? Or is it a vegetable? If it is winter, and if your brother's tree has any, they will be very small. But then again, these days, with genetically modified foods, avo's can be had anytime of the year. They're still mostly winter fruits, much like oranges, around here. If you ever have a look at a map of South Africa, the northern and north eastern part produce the best avo's, and by that I mean the biggest
though I have picked some in the eastern and south eastern parts of our country, mostly the "butter" variety. I'm about to go and have that avo for dinner, together with what's left over of my cottage Pie I made for lunch! Yummy!
I'm sure some more entries will be forthcoming. I would be a pity if this challenge were to end. It is so interesting and challenging too. Now, if we can only get these guys and girls to stop eating their food and take a photo first, we'd be pumping.
