Theme for this week 39 - Idea - Velocity.

Time Frame: pictures for Week 39 are to be taken between July 8, through July 15, 2012.

PROJECT 52 - 4

Following are the Rules and Weekly Projects for year 4.
Thanks goes to Dan (DanLoc78) for getting this going, and to Rob (Mithrandir) for hosting year 3.

Rules :
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible. The goal continues to be
to have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-4 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
6. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
7. Any picture taken within the period of P52-4 is acceptable for the two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-3-51 & 52!1

I googled velocity photography and read up on a couple of techniques, looked at a few examples, then headed down to the lake to see if I could catch some seagulls in motion through panning freehand. Not the sharpest crayon in the box ! but, I am still happy at least one almost turned out!! (If I have time before Sunday I might give this another try.)

Ok Tess motivated me to do this shot, and since I was short on time I didn't leave the house to do it. However, It was a lot more difficult to get than I first imagined it to be
Captured with 2nd curtain flash, some curve adjustment and noise reduction in Lightroom.

Not had much of a chance to pursue this challenge, but did get to take a shot of this aeroplane, doing a circular route around Johannesburg, presumably because it could not land straight away. Doe'nt really give an idea of velocity.
