POTW #231 Sep. 1 - Sept. 15
Posted By: cif, 09-09-2012, 01:37 AM

Welcome to the Picture of the Week #230. Many thanks to Reeftool for hosting the previous weeks. Let's see plenty of great postings over the next week.

This week covers 1st September to 15th September, 2012.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Trip to Jungle Jim's Grocery. We were in the Cincinnati area today so we made a side trip to Jungle Jim's, an uncommon and large grocery store. This might be the biggest grocery in the US, and it has one on the largest wine selections in the US.

I'm still going through the hundreds of shots I have took at the car show in Lake George over the weekend. There are always some very unique and different customs every year. I always bring my DA 10-17 Fisheye everywhere and it was the perfect lens for this fishbowl themed hot rod.

Hi All,

Have been out of the saddle of late. Finally have some time to myself again but still not in super productive mode. Everyone's continual work here in the forums during my little hiatus has put me to shame.

I love the hummingbird and chipmunk shots!

Here's a few I snapped the other morning. Luckily I already the long zoom on the camera but unfortunately quality isn't the best. Shall I blame the lens or the photographer? :P

Boxing Kangaroos! You have no idea how long I've tried to capture these. This one's still not the greatest but at least you get the idea...

I didn't realise at the time but now that I've edited, I love that you can see the grass it's chewing on!

A lovely photo shy shot.

And off they skadaddle....

It's been about a year since I bought this particular lens and it hasn't seen much use.

I'd originally put it on with the intent on using it for the Singles In Challenge, but burned out before I got around to it. It's interesting looking at these pics because not only are they slightly blurry but also have a bit of pink and green fringing. Course the blurriness could just as easily be the fact that I was shooting @ 300mm from at least 300m away.

k100d, miranda 70-300 1:4.5-5.8 MC Macro at 300mm and Av mode.

mecrox - nice series. especially the first 2 shots
ramseybuckeye - i love the hummingbird and chipmunk shots
wolfiegirl - first of all, welcome back! nice job with those kangaroos
xjjohnno - i love the last 3 shots! amazing colors and very sharp!

It is a pretty tough job selecting the Picture Of The Week, because, with no exception, all shots were great.
So, in my humble opinion, this is the top for the 231st edition of POTW:

3rd place
glennbp - Reflection

2nd place
ramseybuckeye - hummingbird

1st place
mecrox - Oxford at night

Glad to see you back, we all go through those doldrums occasionally, or plain too busy with annoying things! Love the kangaroos in the backyard and boxing no less! The best we get are the squirrels taunting our dogs and throwing acorns at them.
